Ah, Bride Day Friday on TLC, you are my favorite! Sometimes there is more perfect after a cray cray week than lounging around on a Friday in pajamas, nibbling on granola and watching Say Yes to the Dress.
Some highlights from this week: my new neighborhood vegan restaurant and teaching my first spin class!
After months of waiting for Peacefoods Cafe’s downtown location to open up in my ‘hood, tonight I finally got to enjoy dinner from there. Tonight’s pick: their asian salad with seitan
My boyfriend made fun of my when I told him I ordered a salad from a vegan restaurant. So maybe it was a basic choice considering many salads out there are vegan, but I really wanted to taste seitan for the first time. I’m definitely a fan! I look forward to taste testing the rest of Peacefood’s menu…. especially their various vegan sweets.
Anddddd, this week I taught my first spin class. EEEEEEK!
Okay, well only 1 person showed up because NYC was in paranoid blizzard mode and the gym I work at isn’t known for crowded group fitness classes, but hey, it counts!
I was definitely a bit nervous leading up to teaching– is my playlist any good? How will I be able to cycle, speak and be motivational all at once? Can anyone hear me without a microphone (Yes Kayla, you’re a loud human being who went to theater school) and of course what if I mess up?
Everything went smoothly and I did what I do best- matched rhythm and tempo to music, used my loud voice to keep the energy up and cheered my way through the class. It can only get easier now, right!?
playlist from the class:
I resisted the urge to use some musical theater 🙂 but of course I had to put some Green Day in there!
Alrighty it’s time for me to continue this wild and crazy Friday night with a super early bedtime. To my defense I did wake up at 4:20am for work today 🙂
What are your favorite songs to spin to?
If it were up to me I’d be spinning to all showtunes all the time… with maybe a tiny bit of Green Day in there…. but obviously thats just me 😉

Congrats on teaching your first spin class! I would love to attend one of your classes some day. I rode over 1,000 miles last year on my road bike. I have only ever attended one spin class in the past (we don’t have a fancy gym in my town), and it kicked my butt! The playlists look awesome, too!!
