Happy first day of Spring!
Spring has always been my favorite season– the weather starts warming up (unless you’re in New York and dealing with this endless winter….), the school year winds down and spring means it’s almost my birthday (less than 2 months!)
Speaking of birthdays…. the boy and I just booked our first real vacation together. Instead of giving each other birthday gifts we will be celebrating our birthdays together in DISNEY WORLD
Who doesn’t love a Disney birthday? Both of us are huge Disney fans so it will be a lot of fun to experience the amazingness that is Disney World together.
Back to today…
My day started off bright and early with a spin class at Revolve. Being the dumdum that I am I totally forgot that I was subbing a spin class tonight when I signed up… oopsie. Hello sore sore legs
Post spin class it was time for caffeine and food shopping. I consider it an awesome day when I have already sweated, caffeinated and food shopped before 9AM.
Back at home I finally watched the Biggest Loser finale while enjoying my post spin breakfast. I won’t spoil it for you (sadly I already knew who won) but I will say the transformations were amazing! This is my first season following The Biggest Loser, and I have some issues with the structure of the show, but overall it is truly inspiring to see what everyone accomplished.
After a meeting for work uptown I realized that I actually had time to attend at yoga class. SAY WHAT? This hasn’t happened in a few weeks thanks to my crazy and unpredictable schedule. Can’t think of a better way to kick off the spring than with a lovely yoga class. My new yoga mat is finally more than just a dust collector!
After stretching out my poor tight limbs it was time for a quick snack before teaching spin.
oh yes, a green smoothie! Super simple recipe: 1 handful of baby spinach, 1 cup of dairy-free milk (today I used vanilla soy because that’s all I have), 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon chia seeds and a spoonful of honey. I struggle with eating enough veggies every day– I can’t seem to motivate myself to cook them. Mixed into a smoothie though? That I can do. I also swear you don’t taste the greens, just yummy banana.
look it matches my green kitchen stools!
and my beloved green living room wall.
then it was spin time! Tonight was definitely my best teaching experience so far. I felt confident in my playlist (which someone asked for at the end of class), the participants seemed to be having a good time while also getting a workout, and I felt like I gave it my all to give them a good class. Since I’m still pretty new to teaching most fitness classes, it’s been a tricky process trying to figure out to to be the best instructor I can possibly me
I fall into patterns— I keep saying the same thing every 2 seconds, or I talk too much, or I run out of things to say and there’s awkward silence. When I’m taking a spin class now (or any fitness class for that matter) I’ve started paying more and more attention to what I like, what I don’t like, and specific vocabulary the instructor is using. It’s all a learning process, but at least each class I teach is getting better and better (or at least I feel less awkward!) Walking home from teaching I couldn’t help but feel happy with how class went and the positive feed back I got from the kickass riders
Oooof, it’s bedtime for this tired, sore, gal!
did you watch the biggest loser this season? who was your favorite?
do you drink your veggies in the form of a smoothie or juice?
what do you look for in a fitness instructor?
