Over the past month I travelled all around NYC trying out new fitness classes with my Classtivity Passport. For $50 dollars you sign up for 10 different classes at fitness studios throughout Manhattan.
The Pro’s
- I took classes that I had already heard great things about without the hefty price tag
- It forced me to take classes I didn’t know much about and take a chance on something new
- Since I don’t have a gym membership it helped me get my daily workout in without breaking the bank
- I had a lot of fun planning out my week based on the selection from classtivity
- bang for your buck- if you go to all 10 classes it’s only 5 bucks a class. Um some of these classes are normally $50, so that’s pretty awesome.
The Con’s
- 24 hour cancellation policy. Yeeesh. While I totally understand cancellation policies (I work front desk at a fitness studio after all), 24 hours cancellation was rough especially when signed up for an early morning class
- certain studios don’t offer a lot of class options. There were studios that I was dying to try but could never fit in with my work schedule
- Not a great variety of class times, most were at night and I work nights
- it was nearly impossible for me to get in all 10 classes in only 1 month… so I only took 7 classes in the end
Classes I took
- Uplifting Strength at Uplift
- Personal Training at Anderson’s Martial Arts
- Kettlebell Kickboxing
- Cell Fit at the Fitness Collective
- Body Ride at Revolve
- Nalini Method
- Doonya
Personal Favorite
- Uplifting Strength at Uplift Studio. Read about my experience here
- Nalini Method
Most Recommended
- Uplifting Strength
- Kettlebell Kickboxing
- Body Ride at Revolve (I’ve already taken this class a handful of times and love it)
- Nalini Method
- Doonya
Left Me the Most Sore
- Nalini Method. Ouch, don’t underestimate a killer barre class
All in all I’m happy I did it, even though I couldn’t get the full 10 classes in.
My advice is to plan as much as you can ahead of time, I made the mistake of taking the classes nearby my apartment first which made the end of my passport a pain in the butt because I was hauling all over Manhattan and trying to fit in the last few classes
Side note, I seriously regret not being able to take the broadway cardio class though… I swear I created that class when I was 10 and jumping around my bedroom to show tunes
Have you tried the classtivity passport?
have you taken any of these classes?
