Dear Legs,
Remember the “running” thing we did a lot of last summer?
Monday RunDay! Apologies to anyone who was blinded by my pasty white legs.
Ever since signing up for my first half marathon I’ve been a bit concerned.
1.I’ve never run in Manhattan (what do I do about water! Where do I run! What about bathrooms! What do I bring with me!)
2. I haven’t run since the summer.
3. I’ve never run more than 3.1 miles without stopping.
Today definitely eased my worries.
It calmed my fears about running in Manhattan. I stuck to my neighborhood and headed towards Tompkins Square Park zig zagging my way around depending on the where I could cross the street.
Pre run I was worried about water because I literally travel everywhere with a water bottle because of my anxiety. I realized that if I absolutely needed water there’s always starbucks.
I left my keys with my doorman so the only thing I carried was my iPhone which I also used for music. While I hope to some day run in central park, planning for today’s run was actually super easy because I didn’t have to worry about transportation.
The most shocking part of it all was how easy running felt. Last year it was a struggle for me to run for a full minute when I started training to run a 5k. Today 3 miles felt effortless. I guess taking an excessive amount of spin classes in recent months has really paid off!
For the past week I’ve been thinking about running the Oakley 10k in Central Park in June but was feeling a bit apprehensive in case I completely lost my ability to run 1 mile without getting winded. Today’s test run made me realize that 10k by June is definitely attainable, so I signed up!
Time to start working my way up to 6.2 miles for June 🙂 woot woot!
And one more thing.
Last night I saw Pippin on Broadway with my parents and brother.
Oh my god was it good. Like, can’t stop thinking about how mind blowing it was good. I have a bit of a bias because I was in Pippin in high school but even so this production was pure musical theater magic. As an actor, musical theater nerd and trapeze artist this show is basically my wildest dream come true. The performances by the troupe of veteran broadway performers and talented circus artist are unreal. Seriously magically… I could go on about it forever
GO SEE IT NOW because tickets are definitely gonna start selling out.
Junior year of high school throwback!
