Guess who’s officially an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor
After waiting 7 weeks to find out whether or not I passed the exam I am honestly just so relieved to be done with tests. From October until February my life was consumed by studying for my NASM personal training exam followed by the AFAA group fitness exam. Now I can happily say I am DONE with tests… well until I inevitably take my GRE’s in the future.
I’m planning on doing a round-up post in the near future about my NASM and AFAA exam experiences. Let me know if you have any questions about the whole certification process!
Today was one of my typical ridiculously long days starting with a 4:15am wake up alarm for my 5:45am shift at the boutique fitness studio I work front desk at. It’s always a pleasant surprise when a 6 hour shift flies by… and a bit crazy that at only 10:45am I’ve already packed in 6 hours of work!
After job #1 it was time for lunch back at home. The craving for a Peacefood Cafe panini hit me hard and I couldn’t resist
This seitan + cashew cheeze + pesto panini reminds me an awful lot of my FAVORITE challah panini with pesto and mozzarella I used to live off of from Grey Dog Cafe. Sadly my belly isn’t too fond of mozzarella anymore so this panini from Peacefood is filling the panini void in my life. Just what I need, more reasons to eat yummy bread.
After lunch it was time to head out to job #2. I don’t really talk about my jobs here much… but I have approximately 6 of ’em at the moment all related to the fitness world. Job #2 today was at-home personal training with a client of mine. It’s been a really interesting challenge having limited equipment at someone’s house. Most of the information I learned about exercise programs while studying for my certifications and while working at a gym focused on using weights. Resistance tubes have become my best friend and I’m realizing just how difficult body weight exercises can be.
After kicking some butt it was time for *my* workout of the day. I’ve dying to “pump some iron” recently aka lifting heavy weights. Recently most of my workouts have been in the form of barre and spin classes which I adore… but I definitely miss using heavier weights for lower reps.
Generally I prefer group classes, but today it was such a nice treat to do my own thing and I felt grateful to have the time to squeeze in a workout.
My favorite workout buddy is still Jillian Michaels podcasts.
And finally it was time for some fun and unwinding at dinner with my two good friends.
My boyfriend made fun of me for taking a mirror picture on my phone, but I was just so excited to be wearing real clothes during the week. It’s pretty rare that I even bother to wear anything besides yoga pants and sports bras when most of my time is spent at work
And now I’m one sleepy Kayla, as per usual.
