Oh hellooooo summer in the city!
I ain’t afraid of the heat… I wanted to go to college in Florida, Arizona or California after all, but yikes it is TOASTY out there today. I’m taking it easy today and enjoying a nice, lazy day off from work.
So what’s been going on this week…….
Thursday I had a lovely sunset trapeze class on the Hudson River.
It was my first class in over a month that didn’t end in torrential downpour so I was a happy camper. I’m still working on my post-injury layout. The trickiest part for me has been the last little bit of the trick– it’s really hard to know what’s happening when you are flipping upside down. I’m working on keeping my legs straight and holding on just a tad bit longer
Friday I was super excited for a free outdoor bootcamp courtesy of Exceed. Free. Outdoor. Bootcamp. Music to my ears. I was gutted when my afternoon appointment ran overtime and I had to skip out on the workout. I was a bit pissed and still wanted to take advantage of the longest day of the year and workout outside. So I went for a little run…
yeah, it wasn’t a little run. It was more like the longest run I have ever gone on. Up until that last mile I was pretty consistent with a 10 minute mile… but then I got caught behind slow walkers in the East Village during mile number 5. The run started off rocky- I told myself 3 miles Kayla, you can do this. By the time I reached those 3 miles I thought “eh, what’s a few more minutes”. By mile 4 I had my heart set on proving I could’ve run that 10k a few weeks ago. At the end of every mile I told myself “it’s only 10 more minutes to another mile, it’s only 10 more minutes to another mile”. I don’t think I’m quite ready to run 6 miles on a regular basis– my poor leggies are TOAST right now and are still aching from last Friday, but I now know I can go for 6 miles. I keep second guessing my decision to sign up for a half marathon, but runs like Friday make me believe that I can train for this race and survive. Definitely a confidence booster.
Taking a rest day on Saturday became absolutely necessary because my calves were throbbing. Even foam rolling and a soak in my parents hot tub can’t help these calves. I need to stretch a bit more next time so I don’t end of in this much pain.
And lastly, my workout recap for the week.
