Happy happy Friday everyone! The boy is currently on his way into the city for a fun filled weekend together. I’m shamelessly excited that we are seeing Despicable Me 2 tonight!
Apparently the theme for this week was dinner on Lake Mahopac
I decided to stay in Westchester for dinner on Wednesday. It’s been a 3 year tradition that my day camp friends go out to dinner once a week during the camp season. The 20 or so of us usually bombard the local Chili’s for an evening of bottomless chips and strawberry lemonades. Unfortunately Chili’s was not ready for our large, rambunctious group and we had to switch up restaurants to a local bar and grill in Mahopac. Dinner with a view? Definitely an upgrade from our usual Chili’s outings.
It was great to catch up with my old work friends and hear all the stories about how things are going at camp. I’ve spent 16 (!) summers of my life either working at or attending a camp of some sort and I definitely miss it this summer. I feel lucky to have met some of my closets friends thanks to my summers at sleep away and day camp.
and camp is where I met this guy! (he doesn’t know how to smile for pictures, it’s a problem)
Back in the city I’ve been up to the same ole same ole– working, spinning and trapeze-ing.
The rain FINALLY stayed away on a thursday night!!!
I always love seeing people’s reaction when I say, “Oh I can’t see anything on Thursday, I have trapeze”. It sounds like I am making some farfetched excuse, but it’s true, I [attempt to] fly through the air with the greatest of ease! Right now I’m taking a break from my layout to bring back my half turn.
This video is circa winter break 2010. I haven’t worked on my half turn since the big bad injury of 2012 so I’ve been a bit hilarious bringing back one of my old favorites. Slowly but surely I’m making progress and hopefully it will be just as smooth as it was back in 2010 soon.
Pre-trapeze I needed a mini meal that was filling enough to hold me over during the 2 hour class… but not so much that I would wanna puke while flying with a tight harness. Quick and easy breaded chicken tenders + sauteed asparagus ended up being a winner.
All I did was dip the chicken in egg and then dip it in a mixture of bread crumbs, salt, garlic powder and pepper. Cook in the oven at 450 degrees for 17 minutes. For the asparagus I simply sauteed it in olive oil in a frying pan and topped if off with salt and pepper. Dinner in roughly 20 minutes, win win.
Almost time for the boy to arrive! Hope you all have a great weekend
