Hey all! I swear one minute it was 6pm and I was thinking “what am I going to do all night to amuse myself” and suddenly it’s 9:45pm and I’m scrambling to clean up the kitchen before my early bird bedtime.
I have some big, exciting news about my future….
I’m going back to school!!!!! This fall I will start taking science pre-requisites as a part of NYU’s Post Bacc program so I can eventually apply to physical therapy programs! I’m both terrified and excited about all of this but definitely think it’s the right decision.
Since graduating college a little over a year ago it’s been a bumpy road as I try to figure out what I want and ultimately where I want to go in life. My family and the boy have been incredibly supportive throughout my various meltdowns when I didn’t get my dream group fitness jobs. I knew I couldn’t go on like this struggling to find work I was passionate about, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and apply to NYU’s Post Bacc program to complete the physical therapy prerequisites
I found out a week or so ago that I was accepted to the program but wanted to have some time to think about it before I made my decision. This doesn’t mean I’m giving up on fitness… in actuality I love that it works hand in hand with my fitness background and my dream is to work both as a physical therapist and group fitness instructor in the future. My plan is to still work as a personal trainer and front desk at the fitness studio while I’m in school… and hopefully I’ll pick up a group fitness class along the way.
The thought of taking chem and bio this September is a wee bit terrifying– I haven’t taken a lab science class since sophomore year of high school but I think it will be worth it. Can’t wait to start this journey next month!
Workout
This morning I enjoyed a nice lil’ sleep in and headed out for a run around 9:30am. After being spoiled by the trails in Westchester I was craving a path where I didn’t have to avoid smokers and slow walkers. I decided to heading east and run on the river path
Path running is definitely the way to go– it’s much easier to navigate and the view is stunning. The 3.5 miles wasn’t half bad once I made it over to the river. I’m growing to really like this whole running thing 🙂
Trapeze
I decided to treat myself to a bonus trapeze class on my day off. Recently I’ve only been flying once a week on account of my shoulder and wallet, but a few of my classes got refunded thanks to the rain and I’m shoulders been fine so I thought why not fly twice this week.
My biggest adjustment today was working on staying TIGHT throughout my trick. It’s harder than it sounds– on the ground I’m the queen of tension yet in the air I’m a flailing mess. By the end of class I was TIRED, but had made amazing progress. On Thursday I gotta work on holding on just a hair longer at the end.
Dinner
For dinner I brought back a favorite with a new twist: roasted pear and asparagus salad with chicken bites! I was inspired by Fitnessista’s chicken bite recipe to make my own chicken. I didn’t have any brown rice cereal so I subbed in panko and think they turned out just fine… although a bit anemic looking since I couldn’t spray the chicken with olive oil before baking.
It was a match made in heaven with my beloved pear and asparagus combo and added a nice dose of protein to the salad.
Time to crawl into bed soon… this girls gotta wake up at 4am for work.
