Excuse me while I go freak out about the fact that it’s almost AUGUST. Summer, where’d you go? Starting school after labor day means I gotta soak up this final month for all it’s worth. Before kissing summer goodbye hopefully I’ll be able to hit up one of the outdoor movies in an NYC park and make it to the beach at least once. Oh and maybe make a quick trip to Los Angeles before orientation? We shall see!
I’m pretty beat from a long day- 4am wake up for a 5am shift at the fitness studio, worked out at Uplift immediately after (and got my butt WHOOPED by Michelle) and a training session with my client. It’s my last week working with one of my clients since her internship in the city is ending soon and I thought it’d be fun to switch things up a bit this week and stray from our usual circuit and tabata workouts.
Directions: using a full deck of cards pick a card one by one. The exercise will be whatever suit the card is, and number on the card will be how many you do. Jack=11, Queen=12, King=13, Ace=14. If you’re in the mood for an extra challenge make the squats jump squats, add in a round of planks or 1 minute of jump roping every 5th card.
I love this workout as a way to shake things up, and my client said the session flew by today. When I was a dance counselor at a day camp I used the same idea with the little ones to work on counting skills but with kid friendly exercises.
Time to hit the hay for this girl– gotta rest up before another early morning shift followed by Thursday night trapeze!
