– the fact that it’s friday. (that’s totally a friday favorite, right?) Friday means I survived another week of post-bacc! I can’t decide if that’s a good thing because I’m one step closer to being done (not to mention winter break…) or a bad thing because that means midterms are coming real soon. After another intense week I’m so excited it’s the weekend and I get to spend some time with the boy here in the city. Should be a great weekend of eating at our favorite restaurants, seeing Don Jon tonight and Big Fish on broadway tomorrow with the family!
– easy to assemble salads. I’ve been slacking on my veggie intake recently (I’ll pretend I’m in constant carbo-loading for my upcoming half marathon…) so I’m really trying to incorporate more greens in my diet. Salads are always a win since no cooking is involved, but even assembling a salad with all that slicing and dicing and feel like a lot of work. This week I found a winner that required minimal work….
greens, carrots and shelled pistachios. The greens were a funky mix I found at Whole Foods
I’d never seen this blend before but I loved that it incorporated a variety of greens. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some spinach, but sometimes I need to switch it up.
The real star of the salad was the peanut sauce I used as dressing
I might be biased since peanut butter is my favorite food, ever, but I’m seriously loving this slightly spicy sauce from Whole Foods. My unofficial goal in life to incorporate peanut butter into every meal of the day.
-the new “Last 5 Years” recording. After seeing the off-broadway revival of “The Last 5 Years” this spring I became OBSESSED with the music and listened to the original off broadway recording every. single. day. Which is really awkward because half the songs make me want to cry so I spent many a subway ride to the upper east side fighting back tears. The latest recording features the incredibly talented new cast and truly captures what made this revival amazing. This new recording will hold me over until the movie with Jeremy Jordan and Anna Kendricks is released
– fall running. Everyone told me that come fall running would suddenly get SO MUCH easier. I rolled my eyes at them and said “yeah yeah yeah” and continued to suffer during my super short runs in the 90 degree summer heat. Turns out everyone was right, running when it’s 50 degrees out is GLORIOUS. I’m still a tortoise and stand by my running mantra of slow and steady wins the race (or at least crosses the finish line at the half marathon) but it is SO MUCH easier now. It’s funny, after hating on running all summer and counting down the days until this silly half marathon was over I’m starting to really enjoy running. I kept telling myself all summer that after the half marathon I would never have to run again…. but now I’m thinking otherwise.
What are your favorites this week?
