Brrrrr New York. My weather app claimed it was 55 degrees during the day today but I don’t remember 55 degrees feeling so dang cold. I’m stubborn and still don’t want to break out my peacoat!
Yesterday I attended two fun 90’s themed classes at Reebok Sports Club as a part of their 18th Anniversary celebration. Since Reebok Sports Club opened in 1995, a few of the classes this week are kickin’ it old school and going back to the fitness trends of the 90’s.
I was just a youngin’ during the 90’s and didn’t get to participate in the high-cut leotard over leggings, step, craze but I have a feeling I would’ve all over that.
How Kayla actually “sweat” in 1995:
Both classes were taught by the HILARIOUS Calvin Wiley. I had read about him on Rate Your Burn awhile ago and was super excited to finally have the opportunity to take a class with him. First was a dance class titled “Calvinography” where we learned a routine and built on it throughout class. One of the fabulous dancers in the class was actually an original ensemble member from In the Heights on broadway (I know this because I used to go see the show at least monthly in college….). Calvin’s choreography was super easy to follow yet got me sweating in no time. All of the music in class was set to fun 90’s dance songs. I totally forgot about the song “Don’t Stop Movin'” but hearing it instantly reminded me of being in dance recitals when I was little.
The second class with Calvin was a sculpting class called “Body Architecture” which integrated quick cardio moves with basic strength training. Once again we were rocking out to fun 90’s tunes. Calvin kept me laughing and working the whole time.
I think it’s funny that I have a totally different view of 90’s music since I was actually young during the 90’s. I always associate 90’s music with boy bands, spice girls and Britney Spears.
choreography by yours truly…
What are your favorite 90’s tunes to sweat to?
I TOTALLY forgot about “Don’t Stop Moving”. It came on during one of the classes and I suddenly remembered I did a jazz dance to it when I was younger. I also love anything NSYNC or Britney.
Thank you to Reebok Sport Club and FitFluential for providing me with the complimentary gym membership. All opinions expressed are my own

Ooh, sounds like so much fun. 1995 is actually the year I was born so I can’t say I remember much but I’d definitely be into the whole leotard over leggings craze if I were older. 😛 Honestly, the first songs that come to mind when I think of my kindergarten days are disney tunes and britney spears’s oops I did it again.
