I texted my boyfriend earlier today to “warn” him that I was in a really good mood :). Don’t get me wrong I’m usually in a pretty good mood come Friday, especially when I know I’ll get to spend all weekend with the boy but today I’m feeling extra giddy… despite having a quiz in chemistry.
What better way to kick off the weekend than with some shopping and sweating? I think one of my favorite things about attending NYU is the fact that after a day of classes I have to pass by some of my favorite stores to on my walk home. Not the best thing for my wallet, but I do love me some retail therapy after a long week. I stopped by Loft and was happy to find out they were having an awesome sale.
This is the first time in awhile that I’ve gone on a shopping spree that did not involve spandex workout clothes. One of the downsides of being the same size since I was 16 is that I can still wear all my clothing from high school, even though it isn’t always age appropriate now that I’m 23. I’m doing my best to build my wardrobe and starting dressing a bit more professional. As much as I love wearing lululemon all day every day I never know what to wear when I need to wear “real clothes” these days. I now had lots of fun new choices for outfits!
After shopping I fueled up at Panera because I knew it was going to be a sweaty afternoon with back to back workouts.
I think I could eat Panera’s chicken noodle soup and thai chicken salad every day and still not be sick of it.
When I double up on workouts I’m usually really conscious of mixing one high intensity with a lower intensity, or two lower intensity workouts- I love pairing up cardio of some sort– either spin, a short run or dance with a lower intensity workout like barre or yoga. Today I was a wee bit ambitious and decided to hit up a cycling class at Flywheel to support one of the girls I used to work front desk with followed by a strength class at Uplift. Aka all sweating, all the time. Like I said this isn’t a typical workout day for me, but I was super excited about both workouts since I haven’t been able to cycle much recently and really wanted to take Lindsay’s class and one of my favorite instructor’s Liz was teaching at Uplift.
I survived both classes and still had a smile on my face at the end of the double. My legs however felt like jello. I fueled up after with a green power smoothie from Terri
Worth shivering on the walk home. I also grabbed a carrot cake lara bar which I ate after showering off all that grimy sweat.
It’s as delicious as it sounds. I was tempted to pair it with some ice cream because it tasted like a delicious dessert.
The boy is on his way from Westchester so it’s time to start getting ready! I’m looking forward to a low key evening of Indian food and catching up on How I Met Your Mother.
What’s your perfect Friday?
Minus the chemistry quiz today is basically my perfect friday– shopping, sweating and Indian food with the boy later
Whats your favorite type of clothing to shop for?
I loveee shopping for cute summer dresses and nowadays I’m all about the workout clothes.
