Oh happy days, another midterm DONE! I’ve been dreaming of this moment all week– Friday night in my pajamas watching Say Yes to the Dress with a belly full of chicken korma.
Happiness. I used to loathe boring Friday nights without the boy, but today I’m embracing the laziness since I have another midterm this Friday…
This time change has been such a bummer. At 5:15pm it’s already dark out and my body is like, Kayla, let’s go to bed now! It’s also been cold almost every day. Not a fan. I’m also not a real “holiday” person… this probably comes with the whole I don’t celebrate Christmas territory (and Chanukah starts on thanksgiving this year, bizarre) but I do love some of these wintery treats I found this week
Drinking egg nog brings back fond memories of babysitting on Christmas Eve during high school. I loved babysitting my voice teachers daughter that night since we got to put out milk and cookies for santa and they always had egg nog in the fridge.
VEGAN PUMPKIN PIE!?!?! I haven’t bought a pie… yet… but this made me SO HAPPY. Hopefully I can convince the boy that vegan apple pie will still taste delicious….
I was pretty successful at tackling my workout plan this week, which I never ended up posting Sunday night. A friend of mine reminded me how important it is to enjoy some “me” time every day, even when school is time consuming and stressful. When I first started really working out sophomore year of college I loved going to the gym because it was the one time of the day no one could email/ text/ call me about school work or rehearsing. I always felt a million times better after 45 minutes at the gym.
Recently I started feeling guilty about working out instead of studying. Having my friend remind me about the importance of taking care of myself really changed my perspective on my current fitness situation. In a perfect world I would love to be able to tackle two-a-days all the time and have time to run 6 miles multiple times a week, but that’s just not realistic right now. What’s more important is fitting it in when I can, even if it’s only a 45 minute barre class before a full day of classes.
This week I really focused on workouts that would bring me happiness and help me conquer the day. Yesterday morning it was 60 (!) degrees here and perfect weather for a run before chemistry lab. It felt so good to run early in the morning and get some valuable thinking time in. This morning I squeezed in a yoga class before my chemistry quiz and biology midterm. It left me calm and ready to tackle the day. And tonight I enjoyed a sweaty sweaty spin class at work with one of my favorite instructors Ryan Makely. To me it was a celebration of conquering another week of science classes.
I’m excited for a low-key weekend. My big plans as of right now is: work tomorrow morning, study for chemistry, get a manicure, shop a tiny bit and organize my closet with madre
And it’s almost bedtime for this girl. I’m wiped out after this week!
What workouts make you the happiest?
It really depends on what mood I’m in. Recently it’s been running, but it used to be a fun zumba class.
