WINTER BREAK!!!!!!!!!! (Even though it was almost 70 degrees today IN NEW YORK. I ain’t complaining!)
This is my desk. This is my desk being attacked by chemistry.
Holy. Moly. It feels SO GOOD to be done with round one of finals as a postbacc student. I had my last final on Friday and afterwards I was on the verge of crying the happiest tears of joy because I SURVIVED MY FIRST SEMESTER OF POSTBACC! It’s all just hitting me now that the semester is over and I don’t have to be studying every free moment- what a great feeling 🙂
The things that really saved my life during finals:
–the “Self Control” app for macs. You choose which websites it blocks and how long you want them blocked for but can still use the internet for everything else. I would literally put the app on for 45 minutes to block Facebook and twitter, plus put my phone on silent and put it far far away from me so I wasn’t tempted by social media and texting. Drastic but necessary measures.
— having a study group. During undergrad I rarely studied with other people… and I also rarely had finals (yay theater major!) so studying with others was a new experience for me. It made a huge difference since it kept me focused and everyone had different strengths / weaknesses with the material. Whatever one person didn’t understand another was bound to feel confident about. I’m kicking myself for not studying with others earlier in the semester but now have a great group to help me survive round two of bio and chem.
— working out. I’m really happy I decided to workout before each of my three finals since it helped out with my nerves. Sweating it out at Barry’s Bootcamp and Uplift helped get some of that nervous energy.
My big plans for winter break? Volunteering a bit at a running physical therapy clinic here in the city, watching all of “Orange is the New Black” on netflix, kicking my takeout addiction with some home cooking, spending some time with the boy and friends and going to Cancun with my mama for a few days of sun, trapeze, and Club Med’s infamous white chocolate bread. Sounds like the perfect winter break to me.
I’m a bit behind on my workout recaps, but here’s my game plan for this week.
Monday: 305 (Dance Cardio)
Tuesday: TBD. Most likely barre + cycling
Wednesday: Barry’s Bootcamp: Chest Back & Abs
Thursday: cycling + trapeze
Friday: Uplift Strength
Saturday: Exceed or Run
Sunday: Rest
Sounds like a pretty sweet (or should I say sore muscle inducing) week of workouts to me.
