OH HEY!!!!!! Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas I feel like my routine has been all out of whack this week. My schedule at work was different (and by different I mean I worked like every day which was not the case during the semester) so it completely threw me off. I’d say “I’m back, baby” but really it’s gonna be awhile til I’m back on a schedule and routine since I’ll be going home to Westchester for New Years and then soon after going to Mexico with my mama. I guess switching things up doesn’t hurt, right?
One of the highlights of this past week was definitely getting a trapeze class in. It’s been tricky fitting in some flying time during the semester so it always feels special when I can go take class. I’ve been working on my layout almost every class post injury since a layout is an important trick to conquer before moving on to new fancy tricks, but I felt like switching it up and worked on my half turn a bit. Unfortunately dusting off old tricks is not like riding a bike and sometimes it’s tricky to reteach your body how to execute the trick correctly. I’m super excited for my vacation in Mexico next week because it means I get to fly every day at the resort. Flying + warm weather + a gorgeous beach = my idea of a perfect vacation.
This week I took advantage of the fact that my neighborhood was a ghost town and went to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. It’s a glorious glorious day when both those stores are practically empty.
This pumpkin butter was my favorite thing EVER when I lived in California last year. I found a way to incorporate it into my breakfast every single day. I was so excited to finally see some pumpkin butter again that I promptly bought three of them.
At Whole Foods I wanted to find some green juiced that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. When I was getting rung up the cashier asked me if I was going on a juice cleanse (she clearly didn’t know about the pumpkin butter lurking in my trader joe’s bag). I assured her that no, I was not going on a juice cleanse, but I was looking for a way to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet. I’m thinking these small bottles + a handful of nuts make a good midday snack.
Hence, good things come in threes. Or really I get excited about about something at the grocery store and end up buying multiple…
The other big highlight from this week was definitely seeing Billy Crystal’s broadway show “700 Sundays” with my family and the boy. What a brilliant brilliant comedian. All of us seriously loved his heartfelt story telling, hilarious anecdotes, and touching tales of the 700 Sundays he spent with his father. He announced at the end that a performance was being taped for HBO, so definitely be on the lookout for that!
Here’s the usual Sunday workout recap. Tuesday & Wednesday ended up being total fails. I guess the downside of working at a fitness studio sometimes is the fact that you are working during the prime workout times on the holidays. Lifting up weights on Friday for the first time in a week was a wee bit challenge. I feel like I made up for the mid-week laziness with the killer trifecta of class at Uplift and then back to back days of Exceed. Helloooooo burpees.
Last Week:
Monday: 45 minutes indoor cycling
Tuesday: nada
Wednesday: nada
Thursday: 2 hours trapeze + cycling
Friday: Uplifting Strength
Saturday: Exceed (HIIT)
Sunday: Exceed (HIIT)
This Week:
Monday: cycling or barre
Tuesday: cycling or barre
Wednesday: TBD. Something in Westchester
Thursday: TBD. Something in Westchester
Friday: Uplifting Strength
Saturday: Cross Fit Fundamentals
Sunday: SoHo Strength Lab
Oh yes, Saturday is Cross Fit Fundamentals. Welp. I purchased a groupon for unlimited Cross Fit classes eons ago and never activated it for various reasons (school, I always had to work when the prerequisite fundamentals course was offered, I had a bajillion cheap packages I purchased over the summer to my favorite studios, I was training for a half marathon, yada yada yada). Time is up and I have to use it now or I lose it. I’m a little bit sad that I won’t get to use it to it’s full potential since I’ll be on vacation for a few days and will be traveling back and forth to Westchester a few times, but I’m still looking forward to really sinking my teeth into Cross Fit for the first time.
I’m still undecided about what’s going to happen when I’m in Westchester. My gym membership there expired but I might renew it since I still get a nice student discount. If that’s that case I’ll hit up some strength training classes there, otherwise I’ll bundle up and hit the trails for a run and go to hot yoga.
What’s your workout agenda for the week?
I saw some studios in NYC were offering New Years Eve classes that ended around midnight. How cool is that?
