Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend… and if you have the day off today you’re enjoying it!
Friday I had off from class thanks to a super nice and sympathetic professor. I decided to take an earlier workout class and get out of the city ASAP so I could spend more of Valentine’s Day with the boy in Westchester.
Only 2 of us showed up for class at Uplift which meant LOTS of personal attention in a class where you get a lot of personal attention to begin with. Classes are Uplift are definitely never easy per say, but the small class made it WAY harder than usual because there was no hiding from the instructor. She was constantly asking if we needed a heavier weight and made sure we were never tempted to slow down. I left there feeling like a champ because I seriously gave it my all.
After a quick shower and getting ready I was off to Westchester. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it on the bloggy blog before– the boy and I grew up in the same town, went to the same school, knew a lot of the same people, etc. While we both knew who the other person was because my town is pretty small and everyone knows everyone, we didn’t really “meet” until we worked at day camp together. He still lives in my hometown approximately 5 minutes away from my parent’s house. My hometown is only about an hour away from the city so it’s not too tricky to see each other most weekends making our “semi” long distance relationship not too bad.
Yes, I was that girl who’s boyfriend picked her up at the train with roses. I guess he’s a keeper 🙂
We were both SUPER excited to see Frozen again as our big Valentine’s Day date. I think this says a lot about our relationship that we went to Disney World for our birthdays last year and wanted to spend Valentine’s Day watching a Disney movie. Not gonna lie, it might have been even better the second time around. Obsessed.
After the movie we headed to dinner at 12 Grapes in Peekskill, steak for him, tuna for me.
Saturday I was so so so excited to take Zumba with my favorite instructor at the nearby gym… and then found out there was a sub. It kind of put a damper on my workout plan and I ended up doing a quick cardio workout before calling it a day– 10 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the cybex.
My big night plans, and a lot of the reason why I spent the weekend in Westchester, was to go see American Idiot in Waterbury, Connecticut. Idiot is one of my all time favorite musicals and I try to catch it on tour whenever it’s in the area.
The Palace Theater is absolutely gorgeous and of the course the show was great as always.
Sunday my family went to my cousins and her husbands house for brunch where I stuffed my face with french toast casserole. It was delicious.
Today I’m moving kind of slow. Something about being in Westchester makes me inherently sleepy and slightly lazy. I woke up this morning not really in the mood to take a class at the gym and not really in the mood to workout on my own and decided sometimes it’s best not to push myself through a meh workout. Since I know I have a pretty solid week of classes lined up I won’t stress too much about my lack of sweating today.
Monday– nada
Tuesday– Core Fusion Barre @ Exhale
Wednesday– Uplift Strength Express + Broadway Bodies (dance cardio… apparently to Footloose this week!!!)
Thursday– The Fhitting Room
Friday– Uplift Strength
Saturday– Bikram
Sunday– RUN (fingers crossed the weather cooperates)
Mission get flexible starts this week. I haven’t been to yoga since uhhhh January 2nd. Fail. 2014 was supposed to be about flexibility and I have not been keeping up with my resolution between the lack of yoga-ing and I have continued to be a stubborn, inflexible person in real life. It’s still one of my big goals to incorporate more yoga in my life even though it’s tricky with my shoulder not always cooperating (trapeze? no problem, yoga? shoulder pain. Makes no sense). I’m hoping bikram will be a good fit for mission flexibility since it doesn’t have downward dogs and chaturungas. The idea of doing yoga in a toasty room also sounds good right about now considering this arctic winter we’ve been having.
How are your 2014 resolutions going?
Clearly my flexibility one isn’t going so well heh.
What’s on your workout agenda this week?
