I think it’s safe to say I will NEVER get sick of Disneyland no matter how many times I go 🙂
As always I had a blast going to Disneyland / California Adventure with David and his mom. The parks were a bit more crowded than I would have liked them to be but we still managed to go on most of the “essential rides”.
Disneyland Starbucks might be the best thing that ever happened, ha.
By the time we came back home we were all exhausted from a day of riding roller coasters and walking around Disney. I’m convinced that there is no better sleep than after spending a day at Disney.
Yesterday morning I decided to hit up a Pure Barre class. While there’s a bunch of classes out here I’m dying to take, Pure Barre is only about a 20 minute walk from David’s house so it wasn’t too terrible to get there sans car. I’ve been to a handful of Pure Barre classes in New York now and was excited to see the West Hollywood Studio.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there were only 3 of us signed up for class. I’ve definitely never seen that at Pure Barre in New York! The small class meant we got lots of personal attention and corrections. After spending the previous day on my feet at Disney I was happy to be taking a class that’s low-impact and doesn’t involve jumping around. I also got a nice sweat in during the walk home which is mostly up a ginormous hill… so that was fun after an hour of leg work.
I think I got my share of cardio in last night seeing “Me First and the Gimme Gimmes” at the House of Blues. David introduced me to them a few years ago and I love their punk-rock covers of well known songs.
I may be small but I can definitely hold my own in the rowdy punk rock crowd thanks to lots of group fitness classes.
This morning I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous California weather with a nice morning run. I was worried at first about where I was going to run since David lives on a humungous hill with a tiny sidewalk… plus LA isn’t known for being pedestrian friendly. I ended up running down Sunset Boulevard and took a little detour on Vine and Hollywood. Running on Sunset was actually great since there’s not a lot of pedestrians on the sidewalks like in New York and it was relatively flat. I’ve driven on Sunset many times both as a passenger and driver, but running was running it was fun because I paid more attention to all the little stores and landmarks.
Toto, we’re not in New York anymore. This definitely ain’t the Westside Highway!
It also helps that the weather wasn’t too shabby– warm sunshine with a cool breeze. I was a HAPPY camper running in shorts and a tank top. Running this winter has seriously been a struggle for me thanks to a colder than usual winter in New York (not to mention more snow than usual too, blechhh). Half marathon training ended up taking a backseat all winter because I’m a wimp and hate cold weather. Every time I have been able to run though I’m always pleasantly surprised to see that my body hasn’t totally forgotten how to run nor have I lost cardio endurance.
I know I keep saying this, but when I get back from vaca it will be time to get SERIOUS about my half marathon in April. Sure, I could *probably* run a half marathon right now, but it wouldn’t be pretty and I don’t think it would be incredibly safe. I’ll get in at least 1 more California run before leaving and then I will start sucking it up in New York for the sake of this half marathon. Hold me to it!!!!!!
Alrighty time to go out and enjoy more of Los Angeles 🙂
