I was SUPER excited when I found out I was chosen for Reebok’s True Studio Slipper campaign thanks to my partnership with FitFluential. The shoes were designed to mimic a barefoot feel but with a little extra grip. The timing was perfect since recently I’ve been on a total barre and pilates kick. I knew these shoes would be a welcome and necessary addition to my ever growing fitness wardrobe.
A lot of classes pilates and barre classes recommend that you wear grippy socks to avoid slippage. This has become a bit of a problem since I only own one pair of grippy socks… and don’t do laundry all that frequently thanks to living in NYC. With the True Studio Slipper I don’t have to be “that” girl in class, wearing the same pair of (smelly) grippy socks over and over again. Oh, plus they’re are super cute and functional 🙂
I immediately fell in love with the funky tie dye color and couldn’t wait to try them out in a class!
Before vacation I put them through the ultimate test run at some of the best (uhhh and most intense) classes in NYC: 30/30 at Flex Studios (30 minutes of pilates reformer + 30 minutes of barre), class at SLT (killer megareformer) and Sculpt Fusion at Uplift Studios.
I especially loved them during SLT and the pilates reformer part of 30/30 at Flex.
I was worried the shoes wouldn’t be grippy enough when I was SWEATING on the megareformer but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they provided the perfect amount of grip without getting in the way. I usually end up going barefoot on pilates machines so having the extra grip was nice since I didn’t have to worry about my feet slipping around.
Instead of worrying about my feet sliding throughout class, I had to focus on the fact that my abs were on FIRE.
I prefer going barefoot during barre classes and sculpt fusion classes as a personal preference, but think these shoes would be great for someone that likes to have something on their feet and want to avoid slipping in socks.
I actually think they would be great for flying trapeze as well since you have to wear something on your feet to avoid getting your toe caught awkwardly in the net (OUCH). Socks also tend to absorb chalk and I use a lot of chalk to avoid getting rips in my palms. So I personally think these shoes wold look awesome flying through the air with the greatest of ease.

Question: Do you prefer to go barefoot or wear sticky socks during low-intensity classes?
Cat Demaree says
I am always slipping when in class and end up concentrating on that instead of engaging my abs. Now it’s got the Kayla stamp of approval I can’t wait to get some! I plan on using them with my personal trainer’s Pilates section and also using them during the stretching/core warmup in dance! Thanks Kayla!

Did you ever use the slippers for flying trapeze? Im looking into wearing something other then socks on my feet when I fly. It seems like gymnastics shoes might be the best.
Kayla says
I have, I really like them for trapeze minus the sticky bottoms which make me kind of paranoid when taking off a rise or depending on the board. I sometimes fly in ballet shoes which works pretty well.
