-Brooklyn Zoo.
Holy moly this was the COOLEST class I have ever taken. And I’ve taken a lot of unique and quirky classes. In case you haven’t noticed from my obsession with flying trapeze, I’m kind of an adrenaline junkie so when my coworker from ClassPass asked me to check out Brooklyn Zoo for our work blog it was right up my alley.
I decided to take “King of the Jungle” which offers a little bit of everything. Since I was the only one in class I got to request what I wanted to do… and I wanted to do “all the cool stuff” as I told my awesome instructor, Geronimo Frais– yes Geronimo like that thing you yell when you’re jumping off of something, which was rather appropriate for the class
He asked me if I was afraid of heights… and I said no, ha.
I got a taste of what Brooklyn Zoo is all about, and I definitely liked it. First up was parkour where I practiced jumping towards a wall (I wasn’t particularly good at this) and jumping over a vault, then I slid down a pole which made me feel like a fire fighter, then I jumped off that high thing into the foam pit and then we worked on a few things on the trampoline.
Okay, maybe I need to work on my seat drops 🙂
I felt like a little kid at a gymnastics party, and was surprisingly sweaty by the end of class. Award for most fun workout definitely goes to Brooklyn Zoo.
-Applebee’s New Menu- After a day of shopping at Woodbury Commons with my mama earlier this week we ended up at Applebee’s as a last resort for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to see their menu has received a nice facelift and now offers some healthier choices like the strawberry, avocado and grilled chicken salad I had
-Walking everywhere. During the crazy crazy winter we had here in New York I relied far too much on public transportation and taxis. Now that the weather is nice I’ve been taking full advantage and walking as much as I can. It’s honestly one of the best parts of living in New York– you end up walking a few miles a day without even realizing it. Since I’m spending more and more time at work, it feels good to get some extra movement in and walk to the office since I know I will be sitting while I’m there.
-Outdoor workouts– This week I hit up Circuit of Change’s outdoor bootcamp and it was a blast. There’s nothing quite like starting your day with a work out outside– it sure beats a stuffy gym.
Most of my workouts involve either lifting heavy things or intense cardio (aka running or a spin class) so it was nice to switch it up with a class that relied only on the great outdoors and body weight. Never underestimate the power of tricep dips on a bench.
– Going away for memorial day weekend? Check out the no equipment needed workout I created for the work blog. ClassPass workout
–Cruise! The boy and I will be going on a cruise this weekend to Bermuda! We are SO excited for a vacation after this semester and to spend the week together. Should be a blast!
What are your favorites from the week?
What’s the most unique fitness class you’ve ever taken 🙂 ?
