Oh vacation, you were lovely
Instead of buying each other typical gifts for special occasions, Jeremy and I try to get each other gifts that are more “experience” based like concert tickets or in this case a cruise to Bermuda as a combined birthday / three year anniversary gift to each other. Contrary to popular belief we were not on our honeymoon, and no he did not propose while we were there (though Horseshoe Bay would be a gorgeous place to pop the question…)
We had an amazing week cruising from New York to Bermuda on the Norwegian Breakaway. The ship was pretty ridiculous between having a ropes course high above the sea to a delicious hibachi restaurant. I’ll have a more detailed recap for ya once I sort through the absurd amount of photos we both took, but we leave ya with a few Bermuda pictures:
It’s pretty hard to take a bad picture in Bermuda 🙂
One of the best things about vacation besides spending the week with Jeremy, sunshine, turquoise water and pink sand was being “unplugged” from the outside world. Typically when I’m on vacation I still end up on my computer in some way connected to the internet, checking my mail, Facebook, twitter, favorite blogs… all of that fun stuff. It didn’t feel worth it to spend the money for wifi on the ship so the only time I ended up on my computer all week was at a cheap wifi hotspot in Bermuda with a lousy connection. I could barely check my gmail let alone social media websites. It felt pretty amazing and liberating to unplug for an entire week and not be constantly checking my phone for a text message or walking around reading twitter updates.
I also barely worked out all week which is pretty unusual for me. Leading up to vacations I always have these big ambitious workout plans– yeah I’ll do awesome workouts in the ship gym every morning! I’ll run the jogging track and do burpees like a beast! But once I’m actually on vacation I realize I need a break from working out since it’s something so ingrained in my daily routine. Recently I’ve been feeling a bit burnt out on exercise so taking the week off to enjoy vacation and not worry about fitting in a workout was refreshing.
After taking the week off I feel ready to get back to it and my body is pretty grateful for the break. Once we got back today and Jeremy left to go home I hit up a class at Exceed and got my butt thoroughly kicked. Doing single leg deadlifts when you’re all wobbly from being on a cruise ship for a week is tough to say the least. Yikes. Fingers crossed I’ll be a bit more acclimated to walking on land tomorrow 🙂
As sad as I am to say goodbye to vacation and a week of having no responsibilities, I’m feeling recharged and ready for my first full week of work! Yes, I’m finally starting up full time at ClassPass working on their marketing and social media team (which is obviously right up my alley!). It’s been cray cray balancing work with classes and I’m excited to now be focused on one thing.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
