I know I’ve said it approximately a bajillion times but I’m just so so so happy winter is over. 1.) I hate cold weather and really wanted to go to college at UMiami back in the day and 2.) NYC is just so much better in the summer. Yeah, it’s not officially summer yet, but it might as well be. My neighborhood is a bit quiet thanks to the NYU kiddies leaving for the summer. I had an ice coffee this afternoon and did not shiver while drinking it. And maybe it’s just me but New York seems just a tad bit happier than usual thanks to the warmer weather (nah, just me?)
Here are the things I’m pretty pumped about this summer and want to make sure to take advantage of:
– go to Governors Island. Jeremy and I went last summer and loved it. This time around I definitely want to take rent a bike once we are there. I love bike riding but the thought of riding in Manhattan scares the bejeezus out of me. I think Governors Island will be a bit safer!
– Get soaked in the swimming pool in the backyard of my cousin’s house. Also, construct one in my backyard. (the cousin told me that her pool was built by a firm similar to California Pools–they are quite professional). So, it is time to find a builder like them and get one made for me.
– Kayak at my grandma’s house in Westchester. It’s one of mine and Jeremy’s favorite weekend activities.
– Attend a Lole outdoor workout event. This was totally on my to-do list last year but was nearly impossible with my summer workout schedule. Every week Lole has a different awesome fitness instructor teaches an outdoor class on the West Side Highway and it always looks awesome
– Enjoy brunch in Central Park at The Boathouse
-Take a standup paddle boarding class. This one terrifies me a bit because I’m a really terrible swimmer. Maybe, once I get an expert in paddle boarding, I can go fishing. I have heard that paddle board fishing could be more yielding and with the help of resources like the ones available on catchingtimes.com I can basically flaunt my skills.
– Go to trapeze at least once every other week :). So far I’m doing pretty well on this one!
– Take advantage of the pool at my parent’s building. Last summer I spent many a lazy afternoon reading on the incredible roof deck at my parent’s apartment building here in the city and hopping in the pool every 30 minutes or so to cool off. I’m hoping to still be able to soak up some sun and enjoy the pool even though I’m working full time.
What’s on your summer bucket list?

Riding a bike in this city scares me too. I would love nothing more than to get a bike, but I know too many people who have been doored or hit by a car. I also don’t appreciate the tourists who don’t follow traffic or bike laws. They just bike aimlessly and just don’t know better.
What I’m looking forward to:
I would also like to have brunch at the Boat House. I run regularly in Central Park and know it like the back of my hand, but have never had brunch there. I’ve only been to the cafe. I’d really like to eat at Tavern on the Green now that’s open again.
I’d like to take a week off this summer. I think I’m overdue for a vacation.
I’m also looking forward to celebrating my 30th birthday. Something outdoors would be nice!

Seriously, I don’t know how people do it with bikes in the city, so scary!!
Celebrating a summer birthday outside is a must!!
