One of the most common topics of conversation these days: resolutions. Do you or don’t you?
As I already stated I kind of love them. As a goal oriented kind of gal I love having new challenges to conquer in my life– even if the challenge is super small and involves making the slightest adjustment in my daily life. I think the reason a lot of people aren’t a fan is because they have big ambitions and then completely forget about them come February 1st (cough cough I’m looking at YOU gym-going resolution-ers)
I’m totes guilty of this mentality too though. This year I’ve decided to break down my lengthy list of resolutions into smaller, more digestible bites and focusing on checking off a few at a time instead of overdoing it right away.
Here’s what I’m focusing on right now:
-Doing more yoga. I found a 6:30AM yoga class that’s convenient to work and part of my gym membership, score! Lucky for me I also wear yoga pants to work either way. My goal as of right now is to attend 1 class a week. I know this is totally doable considering I used to constantly take 2+ yoga classes a week in college, now it’s just a matter of getting my butt to class once a week!
–3 Pull ups. While I was chatting with one of my trapeze instructors this weekend picking his brain for pull-up tips I realized that I rarely work on my pull-up, so obviously I’m not going to get better at them without working on them. It’s one of those moves you can’t just do out of no where (unless you’re freakishly strong), it requires training and specifically working on it.
Now that I have a gym membership it’s time to spend some quality time with the pull-up bar and add new exercises into my daily routine with a major focus on strengthening for the pull-up. Starting next week I will create a workout plan that will set me up for pull-up success.
-Bringing lunch to work. As long as I’m prepared, bringing lunch to work is super easy. This week I decided to make a big serving of soup to bring for lunch 3 days + 1 dinner. Even though I wasn’t really in the mood to cook soup at 10PM last night, I was really grateful to have fresh homemade soup for lunch today. In the upcoming weeks I will continue to food shop and prep as much as I can Sunday night to make work lunches super easy to assemble during the week.
-Blogging more. So far so good! My goal is to blog every week day, or at least have a post published every week day. I’m not sure how long I can sustain that, but why not aim big and see how it goes 🙂
My hope? All of these will become part of my routine (or in the case of the pull-ups, something I can just do naturally). I’ve set a few “check-ins” on my calendar as a reminder to take a moment to revisit my resolutions and figure out the next few to work on.
What are your tips for accomplishing your resolutions?

These are great goals to work on! I’m hoping to be better prepared this year as well. Packing lunches and gym bags is part of that for me. And awesome that you found a yoga class you can fit into your morning routine!

I do love resolutions too, even though I didn’t make any specifics this year. 3 pull ups is a wonderful, strong, and specific goal! Good luck!

Yoga seems to be a big one this year!! So jealous of teacher training– on my long term goals list! Hope it’s absolutely amazing.
