Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I got to spend Friday and Saturday night with my birthright friends which is always a treat, saw Brooklynite off-broadway with my parents Saturday afternoon, and spent today swinging around some ‘bells in the Strong First Kettlebell Course.
Jam packed weekend to say the least.
I’ve been a bit MIA since Monday because I started a new job this week!! While it’s been pretty damn lovely sleeping in all day, every day for the past month or so, I was pretty stoked to not only get started with my new job, but get back to some routine because I love me some routine. And the new job? I’m now working at Yelp as an Account Executive. This past week was filled with lots of training, which I secretly love because I’m a total nerd at heart, and I honestly had a pretty awesome first week. So far so good!
New Years Resolution Check-in
It’s time for my first New Years Resolution Check-in. To recap– I marked down 8 or so dates in my calendar as a reminder to check in on how those resolutions are coming along (anyone already forget about yours??)
The first 3 resolutions I decided to focus on were do more yoga, get 3 pull-ups, bringing lunch to work more and blogging more.
I’ve been almost perfect with my resolution to go to yoga at least once a week. This week was actually the first one in which I wasn’t able to make it to class (okay, I decided to sleep in and take a different class Saturday instead, oops). At this point in time once a week is still the perfect amount for me– it’s doable and attainable since I have a few options of class times that work for me throughout the week at my gym. I’ve been really enjoying my time on the mat and this resolution has forced me to push aside the excuses as to why I can’t make it to yoga.
I haven’t made any progress with my pull-ups, nor have I staked out the time yet to really add these moves into my workout routine. I think this resolution might have to go on the back burner until I’m taking trapeze classes more consistently as well.
Until this week I hadn’t been working during the majority of 2015 (YAY FUNEMPLOYMENT). I stuck to my goal though that first week if that counts for anything. There’s actually lunch available at my new office now so this resolution will honestly be even easier to stick to in the upcoming months– if I’m too lazy to make a tuna salad at home, I can just make it at work. My goal is still to bring/ make in the work kitchen 4 lunches, and I can treat myself to 1 lunch out during the week…gotta feed my Sweetgreen obsession somehow.
And as far as blogging more, I have been slightly better! Sticking to writing a post every week day is actually a bit trickier than I anticipated– if I’m going out at night I have to plan ahead to have the post scheduled. My new goal is blog 3-5 times a week which is a bit more doable.
For this month I’m also going to add into the mix reading before bedtime. It’s a fairly simple resolution and something I do about 85% of the time. The other 15% though is me getting distracted by instagram and Facebook before bedtime. It’s hard to totally ban my cellphone from my bed since I’m usually texting Jeremy until I inevitably fall asleep before him, but from now on no more social media in bed, instead I want to read every night.
And lastly…
Plan for the week:
Workouts
Monday: MetCon3 @ Equinox
Tuesday: Body Conditioning (mainly body weight) class @ Equinox
Wednesday: Cardio kickboxing @ Equinox
Thursday: REST
Friday: Uplifting Strength @ Uplift
Saturday: Yoga @ Equinox
Sunday: TBD in Westchester. Either megaformer class or working out at the gym on my own.
Food
For dinner this week I’m pretty excited to try out this frozen tilapia by Bumble Bee
I totally fell for their marketing plan– I’ve read a bunch of blogger reviews of the product and sure enough wanted to check it out for myself. Until recently I didn’t really eat fish, but since I’ve introduced it back into my diet I can’t stop eating it. I’m still a bit too scared to cook it on my own though, but these frozen and already seasoned fillets look easy enough.
With the tilapia I’ll also have some roasted asparagus on the side.
Also for dinner this week, my go-to “cheezy” chickpeas and kale with coconut oil. Hands down my favorite thing to make during the week.
Lunch:
Turkey wraps with hummus + my usual green smoothie (spinach, almond milk, banana and honey)
Some combo of veggie soup, tuna fish, carrots and hummus, and vegan burritos from work.
That’s all for now, here’s to a great week 2 at work 🙂
Questions: How are your resolutions going– any new ones you want to add to the mix now that the first month of 2015 is over?

Congrats again on the new job! So excited for you!
If you’re looking to do more pull ups, I would highly recommend Fit Cell Collective. They are closed for a few months renovating, but they’re the first to really help me with my pull ups. I’m working on doing an unassisted full body pull up as well.
And blogging 5 days per week? Like you, I tried that a a year ago and it was nearly impossible to keep up with. Wish I could but I can’t work that fast!

Thank you 🙂
I took a class there awhile back but haven’t been there since! Will definitely have to check them out again when they reopen… I seriously need to get these silly pull-ups already it’s been a goal of mine for 5+ years.
Yeah my initial plan of 5 days a week was a cute idea…. I’m hoping I can stick to 3 days a week though!

Ohh reading before bed is a good one! I definitely need to put down my phone for 15 minutes and finish a book.
