Introducing Workout Wednesdays!
But first… getting back to Morning workouts ain’t easy. I know I had only roughly 1 month of being funemployed, but easing back into waking up early has been pretty rough. Obviously, waking up at 9AM and slowly making my way to the gym has been pretty great, but now I’m getting back on track with my crack of dawn workouts.
People frequently ask me “how I do it”– wake up super early and get out there. Honestly, working 5:15AM shifts for a year helped, it taught my body to get outta bed.
The truth is, it doesn’t always happen though. But when it does, it’s thanks to the combination of going to bed early, packing up everything I need for the day the night before and pre-planning my workout.
My bag, forever filled with workout clothes and my makeup…
My number one piece of advice is pack the night before. There is nothing worse than trying to find a clean pair of workout pants and pondering what to wear to work at 5:30AM. I literally pack everything I can to make the morning as easy as possible.
Oh and one last thing… I try to do my hair the night before and plan accordingly for a slightly less sweaty workout in the AM. Often times I just take a quick body shower with my hair in a bun after working out so I can just quickly dry it afterwards with a blow dryer for like 2 minutes. In the summer time this is definitely not always the case– I’m totally cool with braiding my wet hair or putting some gunk in it to make it (vaguely) curly. In the winter, though, there’s no way in hell I’m going out there with wet hair, and actually blow drying my hair when it’s soaking wet takes forever.
So that’s one of my secrets– being a slightly gross human being and avoiding mucho sweaty workouts like spin class in the morning since I won’t have time to properly shower and do my hair.
And now that you are probably questioning my hygiene, segue to Workout Wednesday!
In the upcoming weeks Wednesdays will be devoted to various things workout related such focusing on form and benefits for favorite moves of mine and workouts I’ve been doing.
First up, a great AM workout that will make you sweat, but not so much you ruin your straight hair (hey, I never said I wasn’t vain…)
Directions: Do each move 12 times then repeat the circuit with 10 reps and finally 8 reps. Aim to work with heavy weights since the reps will get easier every round!
Let me know if you try this workout out and what ya think 🙂
Question:
What’s your best advice for waking up early any working out?

I think a lot of men would be surprised to learn that we women do this. My boyfriend was stunned when I told him I don’t wash my hair everyday. As long as you’re not gross, dirty, or smelly, i’m ok!
Waking up early – I try to get enough sleep. Sleep is so important to me. Depending on what I’m doing in the morning, I pack the night before, have my outfit ready, or sometimes even go to sleep in my workout clothes 🙂

haha right, it’s the dirty secret of most ladies@
I need to try going to bed in my workout clothes– then I really have no excuse when I wake up and just have to brush my teeth and go!!
