I’ve totally been inspired by the posts Pumps & Iron does of all her favorite things from the month. I thought it would be fun to start doing a similiar monthly monthly round-up.
Without further ado, here are some of my faves from April. And yes, I know it’s May but I’ve been busy, okay 🙂
Fashion I’m Loving
Aspire Ankle Pants from Athleta
I’m absolutely obsessed with these fitness meet fashion pants that are totes work appropriate with a cute blazer. They are ridiculously comfortable and have functional pockets which is great for stashing your cell phone. They’re pretty lightweight and will be a staple in my summer work wardrobe.
Black Flats from Chelsea Crew + Shoegasm
I’ve been legit eyeing these shoes on my way to Uplift for the past months (hence the window shopping photo!) and finally tried them on one day after work. Gah, they are so fantastic. Now that the shoes are broken in, they’re comfortable for the work day. I like that they’re a tad bit dressier with jeans or a dress than my silver Sperry’s. Hello, summer favorites.
Foods I’m loving
I’m not embarrassed to admit I went to Dos Caminos almost every weekend this month… and am definitely having my birthday brunch there this month. For starters, the guacamole is the best I’ve ever had. Period. I’ve only ordered their salmon benedict, which is amazing, and everything my family and Jeremy have ordered has been amazing too apparently. Why is this place so dang good?
Warmer weather = smoothie weather. Spinach + banana + almond milk, blended. Just do it, trust me.
Workouts I’m Loving
Classes at Exceed with Marianna.
I’m no stranger to Marianna’s class at Exceed, in the past month it’s become a weekly staple once again. I don’t know what it is about this girl, maybe it’s because we both went to NYU for theater yet ended up in fitness, or maybe it’s because we’re both tiny but mighty, either way this girl totally gets me. She can spot across the room when I’m halfassing a workout move or my weight choice was too light. Also, her classes are TOUGH.
Mile High Run Club
I’ve been trying to take class here 1-2 times a week as a part of half marathon training. It’s been really eye opening for me to realize how I’m definitely not in running shape right now. Going to these classes has been a good choice for me versus actually running outside because I know the instructor will push me. Outside on my own it’s easy to wimp out early or slow down, however in a class it’s not that easy! During my previous half marathons, I never trained with intervals so am curious to see how that really helps. I can already feel myself getting stronger… and my lungs are even starting to hate me a little less!
What I’m Reading
Big Little Lies
My friend Annica recommended this book for me and it was SO GOOD. I’m probably really late to the party on this one, but if you haven’t read it highly recommend it. I’m not one to generally read books that are remotely suspenseful, but the final few chapters of the book were SO intense. Couldn’t resist reading another Lianne Moriarty book immediately after, so now I’m reading The Husband’s Secret which I hear is good…. but not as good.
From the Theater World
John Cameron Mitchell’s Last Performance in Hedwig
I’m really glad my brother jumped on buying these tickets because it was a performance unlike any other. I’ve seen Hedwig a few (okay more than a few…) times and last Sunday was truly special. The entire first floor was standing through the opening song, there was crowd surfing, encores and more. It brought me back to when Billie Joe Armstrong was in American Idiot and brought down the house every single night.
Highlights From the Month
We always have a good time when I’m out in California and this time was no exception. I definitely managed to jam pack my short visit there. While I love New York so so much, sometimes I do think it would be nice to have sunshine all year round… and Disneyland not too far away.
What are you loving this month?
AKA my favorite month because it’s MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!
