June already? I feel like it was literally just yesterday I was recapping my favorites from April. While I’m a little sad to say goodbye to my birthday month, June means SUMMERTIME and who can complain about that?
Here are some of my favorite things from May and what I’m looking forward to in June
Fashion I’m loving
Crop tops
I was totally anti crop top… until I bought one for myself and styled it right. I’m not one to bare my belly if we’re going to be honest, but I’m okay with showing a bit of rib action on the weekends. Paired with a conservative high waisted skirt, this birthday outfit was a hit.
Since debuting this top, I’ve since purchased a few more crops. Officially obsessed.
Comfy Pants
Pants that are equally as comfortable as yoga pants, but look a teensy bit dressier have been my BFF lately. For some reason the only place I’ve found pants like these that I love is Abercrombie. I’ve done an absurd amount of shopping at Abercrombie lately and I’m not even ashamed– I’m really short and their stuff just fits me well. Anyways, I’ve been a mega fan of uber comfy pants matched with a simple tank top as casual work wear.
Workout I’m Loving
Circuit of Change
It’s been ages since I took a Circuit of Change class. Last summer I was a big fan of their outdoor bootcamp in the mornings. I forgot how much I like their indoor class.
Circuit of Change is hard to explain, and you sort of have to do it for it to make sense. Essentially it’s a mixture of cardio moves, martial arts, body weight training and yoga fused into 1 hour of sweating followed by meditating. Like I said, you have to experience it.
The class I took was on a Monday night and the energy was on fire– a full class, everyone giving it their all. When he ended in shivasana it was simply glorious after a ballistic, intense workout.
IT’S TRAPEZE SEASON!
Oh flying trapeze, I’ve missed you so!
Warm weather means the outdoor trapeze rig is open and I can resume my usual schedule of weekly flying. Coming back after a winter of barely flying is always a bit wonky– it’s not like anything in every day life mimics the motions you’re doing up in the air. Oddly enough though it’s like riding a bike and soon my body remembers the rhythm, the cues and exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.
After every class I’ve left sweaty, covered in chalk, sore, but with the biggest grin on my face. Trapeze therapy is the real deal!
Fitness Equipment I’m Loving
The Stick.
I think I’m more obsessed with this thing than my foam roller… and that’s saying a lot because I love me some foam rolling. The Stick has been really helpful in helping me recover from long runs and general workout soreness by working in a similar fashion to the foam roller- it help release muscle tension and soreness. Hurts so good.
Beauty Product I’m Loving
Tartelette palette
The reason I hate going to Sephora is because I go in literally needing 1 makeup item and leave with a bag full of (expensive) goodies. This palette from Tarte was a great find though and I’ve been using some combination of colors every day. I especially like combining options from the top row and sometimes add in some of the purple colors.
What I’m Reading
Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht
This book is exactly what I needed right now. The book is a health mix of career advice, social media pointers and general life lessons for the young professional aka me. I wish this book existed when I was right out of college and even more clueless about my life than I am now.
Things I’m Excited About…
Club Med, Cancun
Jeremy and I will be celebrating our collective birthdays/ anniversary with a trip to Club Med, Cancun this month! It’s one of my all time favorite places to go and I’m really excited to show him the amazingness that is Club Med… plus peer pressure him into taking a swing on the trapeze. We’ve been dating almost 4 years and he’s never done trapeze! That’s about to change 🙂
The Walkway Over the Hudson Half
Even though my training hasn’t been the best, I know this race will be fun no matter what and I’m looking forward to conquering Half Marathon #3. I’ve heard the course is beautiful so at the very least I’ll get some nice pictures, right?
Starting a new job
Yup!!! More information coming your way soon, but let’s just say I am BEYOND excited and it’s been really hard keeping this a secret from all of you. Stay tuned this week for more details!
