Fashion I’m loving…
Ridiculously cute tanks from Eat Healthy Designs
But seriously, how cute is that? I just got this tank in white. I love all their witty designs and can’t wait to see what other cute things they come out with.
Undies from Empowered by You
Finding a good pair of undies to work out in is way harder than you would think. I was kindly sent two pairs of Empowered by You underwear and I’m totally obsessed. They lie completely flat under yoga pants, something that isn’t true for the usual lacy ones I wear. They also have these little grippy bits on the side which is great for when I wear them with dresses. I’ve found that some of my lacy underwear has lost it’s elasticity around the waist which can be a bit concerning while I’m wearing a dress if you get what I’m saying. I’ve been a big fan of these new undies both for working out and every day.
I personally can’t stand panty lines so can only vouch for their thongs and the fact that they are very comfy and functional at the same time.
And now you probably know too much about my undergarments. Moving on 🙂
Foods I’m loving…
Lunch bowl from Semsom
This new “fast food” place on Astor is basically the Lebanese food meets Chipotle. You have the choice of making a bowl or a wrap then get to choose your protein + whatever fixings you like.
I went for the turmeric chicken on top of rice with a ton of veggies and hummus. I especially loved the sweet and sour eggplant drizzles on top. It was absolutely amazing, highly recommend for lunch if you’re in the area of a quick dinner on the go.
Van Leeuwen vegan ice cream
Ice cream has always been my favorite dessert. When I realized I was lactose intolerant I was so sad to have to give up my favorite dessert. Van Leeuwen basically parks their truck outside my apartment every night and carries the most amazing vegan ice creams I’ve ever had. They also have a handful of stores in the city– sometimes I’ll walk over to the one in the East Village so I feel less guilty about my ice cream addiction. For my fellow lactose intolerant friends or vegan peeps out there I highly recommend the vegan pistachio or peanut butter chocolate chip (not always available sadly). Best treat ever on a summer night.
Vital Force parfait from Juice Press
On Wednesday nights I’ve been rushing to get to trapeze after work. The class awkwardly starts at 6pm which means I absolutely need to have a snack or really early dinner to keep me going during the 2 hour class. I’ve been running into Juice Press on the way to class to pick up one of these “yogurt” parfaits. I’ll warn you, they’re a little bit messy to open for some reason, but really tasty and worth it.
All greens with apple from Liquiteria
Something about this hot weather makes me crave juice like crazy. I’m not one for doing a juice cleanse– I’m a fan of eating and chewing, sometimes though I like to have juice as part of an afternoon snack. I’ve been loving sipping on this one while I’m at work.
Watermelon juice from The Squeeze
Another summer favorite in the heat. I’ve been all about the watermelon juice this summer, it’s so so refreshing. I was sent a sample of the watermelon juice from The Squeeze and absolutely loved it. I honestly found it refreshing to have it after dinner as a sweet treat.
What I’m reading…
I Take You by Eliza Kennedy
I didn’t love this book, however it definitely grew on me by the end. The main character is a bit outrageous and it follows the week leading up to her wedding with a cast of equally outrageous characters. It was a fast read and ended up being a fine companion while I was traveling.
Enchanted August by Brenda Bowen
I’m currently reading this fluffy beach read about 4 NYC dwellers who rent a house together in Maine as a way to “get away from it all”. I typically try to alternate fiction and non-fiction books but have been really in the mood for light reads this summer. So far I’ve been enjoying this one more so than I Take You.
Travels from the month…
Family trip to Colorado
My family went to Colorado for my cousin’s wedding. I didn’t end up talking about our trip much, but we had a really amazing time in Estes Park and got to explore Denver + Boulder a tiny bit. We stayed at the above Estes Park Resort. It was gorgeous and overlooked the lake plus had a nice little walking path where I took this picture. Unfortunately we didn’t have a ton of free time since obviously wedding was the main focus of our weekend. My parents, broth and I did get to spend the day walking around the cute town of Estes Park. The Starbucks had a legit creek outside of it because it’s Colorado and everything is pretty.
I’m sad it was such a quick trip out west and hope I’ll get to make it back to Colorado for a more in-depth visit sometime. For next time, though, I was suggested to go somewhere closer to home; apparently, there are a lot of things to do in Jackson, Michigan so maybe we’ll make a trip out of it-the whole family! It should be quite fun.
4th of July in Bellport, NY
Relaxing + beach + my best friend = perfect weekend away.
Fun things for August
Free fitness classes classes in the Flatiron District. Lots of great studios teaching classes like Uplift, Chaise and Yoga Shanti
Free Yoga in Washington Square Park with Yoga Vida. 8:30AM-9:30AM for the rest of the summer!
Summer Streets. An entire avenue of NYC shut down from the Brooklyn Bridge to 72nd Street. It’s perfect for running or riding. Seriously, it’s one of my favorite parts of summer.
