11 miles + a very crowded Brooklyn Bridge + getting stopped every couple of blocks = my longest run ever. Which shouldn’t be the case considering I’ve run 13.1 miles a few times…
Not exactly what I was going for, Nike, but okay! In actuality I’m not driving myself crazy with how long it’s taking me to complete these long runs. Since I’ve been running Summer Streets, there’s definitely been more Stop & Go than if I just ran the West Side Highway like I usually do.
Running the Brooklyn Bridge sounded like a really good idea until I actually made it there and realized how stinking crowded the thing was. The walkway is super narrow, there’s a lot of tourists, a lot of bikes to dodge and people just stopping to take pictures every couple of steps.
Okay, I was also guilty of taking a lot of pictures on the bridge.
I got frustrated by all the extra weaving I had to do and kind of regretted my decision to head over there. The view was gorgeous though, so it wasn’t a total fail! Running from home to the Brooklyn Bridge and back took about 6 miles and left me with “only” 5 more to go back on the blocked off avenue.
One of my favorite things about taking advantage of Summer Streets has been the water stops along the way + free coconut water. I guzzled down far more water than I probably needed to, but look at that above pictures, I was sweating like a beast. Coconut water tasted so amazingly good halfway through my run and I’m sure the extra electrolytes didn’t hurt…
Even though the run took me literally forever, I felt pretty good during the actual run. I’m happy to say it was also the longest mileage I’ve ever done during a training run since I always stop at 10 during half marathon training!
My plan from last week ended up getting swapped around and I decided to hit up barre3 instead of my third run for the week. What a surprise, I didn’t feel like running. My big goal this week is to actually run the 3 runs I say I’ll do and run 6 miles on Tuesday. I’m so so tempted to just go to spin class or something. Please someone yell at me if I start talking about signing up for Soul Cycle instead…
This Week’s Plan:
MONDAY: Exceed (1 hour HIIT)
TUESDAY: Run 6 miles
WEDNESDAY: Yoga + Trapeze
THURSDAY: High 45 @ Mile High Run Club (roughly 4+ mile run)
FRIDAY: Strength at Uplift
SATURDAY: LONG RUN – 13 miles (!!!)
SUNDAY: Rest
Guys, I’m like basically running a half marathon next week- WEIRD!
Leah says
Well it is supposed to storm all day Tue so might want to swap that day for another or bring the run inside.

Free coconut water? I’m jealous. Great week of training.
