I’m obsessed with day-in-the-life posts from other bloggers and I’ve been meaning to do my own day-in-the-life since the summer but legit kept forgetting to take pictures after I woke up. Took me long enough but I finally remembered!
6:20AM- Alarm goes off for 7AM yoga. My alarm has been the chorus of “Hot Child in the City” since freshman year of college and now I can’t bring myself to change it.
Convince myself I can sleep 10 more minutes and still make it to yoga in time. I do this to myself every morning and end up setting my alarm earlier than necessary to allow for this extra snoozing.
6:30AM- Actually get up and start getting ready for yoga. Brush my teeth, get dressed and eat a white chocolate macadamia Luna Bar.
6:50PM- Leave apartment. One of the many reasons I adore Yoga Vida is because it’s basically across the street from my apartment.
7:00AM- Yoga time! My calves have been SO tight and I’ve been looking forward to yoga all week. Yoga Vida is the first yoga studio I visited in Manhattan while I was still a college student and I instantly fell in love with space and vibe.
8:05AM- Head back home to get ready for work. Since my hair was straight from the day before, I forgo showering since my hair still looks good, I didn’t sweat in yoga, it saves me time and I’ve been trying to wash my hair less. I swear I’m not a gross person.
I wash my face, brush my hair, put on some make up and get dressed.
Not showering also means I have enough time to eat an english muffin with peanut butter + honey before I head to work.
9:00AM- Start my really cold walk to work. It’s great that I can walk to work… but it kind of sucks in the winter and there is no logical subway route from my apartment in Greenwich Village to my office in west Soho.
All I can do is bundle up, suck it up, and make pouty faces during the bitter cold journey.
9:15AM- Make a pitstop at Starbucks to warm up and get my daily chai.
9:30AM- Arrive at the office a little bit frozen, but at least I have chai.
I’m the Marketing Lead at a small activewear company, nicepipes apparel. Every day is a little bit different for me, depending on what tasks I’m working on and what needs to be done. It’s one of the things I really love about my job– I get to do a ton of things and it’s rarely boring.
All mornings start off with tackling my inbox, checking our social media channels for anything exciting, and taking a peak at Google Analytics.
After my morning routine, dive into the next order of business which is designing the template for a big campaign we are launching and I need to give to our developer. He will be the one to actually build the page for our website.
Next, I spend way too long deciding what color blue to use for the background of an image I’m editing. When you stare at color options too long they all start to look the same.
12:15PM- Lunch time! It’s too cold to walk to any of the farther away lunch spots I like to hit up. I stay close by and walk to Dig Inn which is just around the corner.
I LOVE Dig Inn because it’s close to work, cheap, fast and pretty healthy. My favorite combo is chicken over brown rice with the curried kale and brussel sprouts. Soooo good.
12:30PM- Back to work while eating lunch. I’m not incredibly productive while I’m eating and usually use this time to catch up on emails and play around on social media. Once I’m done eating, I go back to being productive.
2:30PM- Starbucks break with my coworker. I’ve been consuming more caffeine than usual lately thank to studying for the GMAT. When I get home from work I’m usually beat and need that extra boost to keep me focused not only during the post lunch “afternoon slump” at work… but also when I’m back home studying.
My coworker is the best and never judges me when I ask him to take photos of me for instagram and blogging purposes. He has become my standby instagram husband.
3:00PM- Back at the office get an exciting email that the photos from a photoshoot we did the day before are ready! We just got some new products (our signature leg warmers and arm warmers in white) and getting the pictures means I can update the website and work on the newsletter announcing the new product.
Spend the afternoon updating the website and editing the newsletter graphics. I’m definitely not a graphic designer but have learned how to do a fair amount on photoshop over the past few months.
And voila, the finished product:
At some point during this editing process I also snack on popcorn.
6:30PM- Done for the day! Walk home, which even though it’s dark doesn’t feel nearly as bitter as the morning walk. Yay!
6:50PM- Back home and veg out in the couch for a few minutes before it’s time to start making dinner.
7:20PM- Make dinner. I’ve realized that I hate making lunch, but don’t mind making dinner. I find it somewhat relaxing especially if I’m making something I’m confident I won’t mess up.
I make this chickpea dish almost every week because it’s easy, somewhat fast, and I won’t mess it up. I also watch the latest episode of Workout New York in the background.
7:40PM- Dinner is served! Eat dinner and finish up the episode.
I procrastinate studying and clean the dishes… and read some blogs while I’m at it too.
8:20PM- Give myself a pep talk to start studying before it gets too late. Bleh.
10:30PM- Call it quits because I’m getting tired. I’m not working out the next morning so I take a shower, blow-dry my hair and start getting ready for bed.
11:15PM- Crawl into bed read for a bit and text with Jeremy.
11:45PM- Sleep!!!
