Hi, resolutions. It feels like forever since I made you.
I’m a believer that resolutions can be constantly evolving and changing, depending on what’s going on at the moment. It was funny how many of my resolutions for 2015 were no longer relevant at the end of the year, and that’s okay. Those resolutions were still things I had wanted to work on at the beginning of the year.
I like having a few overarching goals for the year, things I can always be working on, and then a few super specific, time sensitive goals such as take the GMAT… and stop complaining about it while I’m at it.
I was excited when Drink Up reached out to me about their new campaign #MissionH2O. The idea is to give you a second chance at resolutions, because let’s be honest most of us aren’t doing so hot on the resolution front already. If drinking more water isn’t one of your resolutions, it probably should be… that is unless you’re like me and already drink an insane amount of water, thanks anxiety!
Even before #MissionH2O reached out to me, I had been talking with my close friend (Hi, Jenna!) about her frequent mid-afternoon headaches at work due to dehydration. My biggest tip is to keep water on your desk. I’m literally always reaching for my cup of water throughout the day, whether I’m on the phone or typing away. Maybe this is TMI but I also don’t mind the frequent bathroom breaks because it’s a good reminder to get up, stretch and walk around, but maybe that’s just me 🙂
In addition to the resolutions I already laid out, I’ve decided to add a few more to the bunch. I’m of the philosophy that you can never have too many goals.
- connect. I want to find more ways to connect with likeminded individuals and continue to foster the relationships in my life that are invigorating, energizing and inspiring. I want to be surrounded by people that build me up instead of bringing me down, and hope my friends feel the same way.
- travel more. As much as I love Manhattan more than any other place in the world, it can really wear me down and I know I need to get out to help me recharge. At the beginning of 2016 I had zero travel plans which was kind of sad. I just booked a two-week trip to Los Angeles for March to visit my bestie and I am SO excited.
- sleep more (at least 7 hours a night). Sleep has always been my enemy, growing up I always had trouble falling asleep, nowadays I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to also devote 7 of them to sleep. It’s something I really struggle with, especially since I wake up sometime between 5:30AM-6:30AM most mornings to workout.
Now it’s your turn, share your own #MissionH2O for 2016 and tag me (@kaylaruth on instagram and twitter) for a chance to win a prize pack from Nalgene. I will be giving away 10 water bottles + you’ll also be entered to win additional prizes. Good luck!
