Workouts I’m Loving…
B | X at Brick – Grand Central
In the last month I’ve become totally obsessed with B|X at Brick and Brick’s new Grand Central location.
In short, B|X is kind of like a Crossfit, bootcamp, high intensity interval training hybrid. You work through a circuit that might include anything from burpees, wall balls, squat jumps, rowing, thrusters, push-ups to even running. Yes, there are self-powered treadmills for sprints, but don’t worry– you don’t need to be a hardcore runner to survive.
Each station in the circuit is typically comprised of 2-4 moves for a certain number of reps and you repeat as many times as possible during the allotted time. The class is hard but doable, I always leave sweaty and feeling insanely accomplished.
My least favorite part? Hobbling down the subway stairs after class to catch the train back home. Ow.
Hip-Hop at Uplift Studios
Once a month Uplift offers a hip-hop dance class. I’ve been meaning to check it out and finally went with my friend Leah. So. much. fun.
If you have any desire to take a hip-hop dance class, but you’re worried about your lack of dance skills, this is the class for you. Instructor Rachel literally sat us down before class to tell us to have fun and y’know dance like nobody’s watching.
The dance routines were easy to follow and I could tell Rachel genuinely loves teaching this special monthly class.
Another Soul Cycle + Hamilton Ride
… I’m sure no one is surprised by this 🙂
Foods I’m Loving…
Avocado Toast at Phebe’s Tavern & Grill
I’m always looking for somewhere new in the neighborhood to get brunch. The avocado toast + egg combo at Phebe’s in the East Village? Amazing. Pictured is when I got it with poached eggs… I think it tastes even better with an egg over medium, but I think everything tastes better with a fried egg.
(No) Bone Broth at Dig Inn
Dig Inn recently debuted their (no) bone broth soup– a tasty vegan broth made from sea greens and veggie scraps. It’s essentially a create-you-own soup and you can mix in whatever you want. I’m a fan of kale + brussel sprouts + chicken with avocado on the side. Perfect for when it’s insanely cold out and surprisingly filling.
V for Vegan pizza from Two Boots
I’m going to make a bold statement here — this is the best vegan pizza I’ve ever eaten. I almost cried happy tears when I had my first bite, that’s how good it is. The V for Vegan pizza features vegan cheese (pretty sure it’s Daiya), artichokes, mushrooms, onions and two kinds of pesto sauce. I get it without the onions. After I posted a picture on snap-chat numerous friends asked where that amazing pizza came from, Two Boots is awesome, my friends.
The personal sized pizza is a pretty hefty serving, I’ve been getting it delivered to work for lunch and enjoying leftovers reheated in the oven at home later in the week. If you’re vegan, lactose intolerant, dairy-free, whatever, order this pizza.
Fashion I’m Loving…
Ordering sneakers from Finishline
My go-to sneakers are past their expiration date. Fun fact: you’re supposed to switch up your sneakers every 6 or so months. I’m really good about this with running shoes, but not so good about this with the other sneakers I wear for working out because $$.
I seriously needed a replacement pair (or two) and didn’t want to spend $100+ dollars on a pair of new Nikes. My friend tipped me off to Finishline’s awesome sales and I was able to get two new pairs of my favorite Nikes for around $70 each including the ones above. I personally don’t care that they are “last year’s colors” — turquoise is always my favorite color.
I’m a huge fan of Nike Free – TR Fit 5 and wear them during all the classes I take (unless it’s Barry’s Bootcamp and then I wear running sneakers).
What I Read…
The Circle by Dave Eggers
This book is a change from the “chick-lit” books I tend to gravitate towards. It’s about a fictional start-up that’s sort of a cross between Google and Facebook. What starts off as this really awesome start-up and idea ends up turning into a lot more and brings up questions regarding privacy on the internet and what it means to broadcast your life to the world via social media.
Having worked in the start-up world now for a few years, I could definitely relate to aspects of “start-up” life (oh how I miss free lunch!) and the questions regarding social media + privacy makes you think. Highly recommend the book.
What I Watched…
Girls
Girls is back on HBO and I couldn’t be more excited. I won’t go into spoilers for anyone that isn’t caught up, but I legit freaked out for most of the first episode and think this season is already off to a solid start. Anyone else watching?
Silicon Valley
I kept up with Silicon Valley during all of Season 1 and most of Season 2… but never got around to finishing Season 2. The show is about a start-up in the early stages and the growing pains of starting a company mixed in with ridiculous antics of boys being boys. I recently started re-watching with Jeremy and forgot how much I love this show. And I guess how much I love HBO GO between this and Girls.
Mike Birbiglia: Thank God For Jokes
You probably know Mike Birbiglia as the guy who slept walk through a hotel window and almost killed himself. He’s my absolute favorite comedian. Jeremy and I went this weekend to see his newest stand-up show “Thank God for Jokes.
Jeremy and I actually got to see Birbigs perform a lot of this material during a pre-tour try out where he essentially tested out jokes on the audience to see how they would land. Even though we knew some of the punchlines, it was still absolutely hilarious and an interesting take on the fact that all jokes have to happen at the expense of someone else.
The show just extended until May, go see it!
School of Rock on Broadway
I have to admit, going into this show I was ready to totally hate it. The movie is okay at best and I was curious what Andrew Lloyd Webber would do with the music (he wrote Cats and Phantom of the Opera btw). I was surprised by how charming the show was and honestly fun. Both Jeremy and I ended up enjoying it far more than we were expecting and I even bought the album because it was pretty catchy.
Worth seeing if you’re looking for a fun, uplifting show with an insanely talented cast of tweens.

I love this post because well, duh 🙂 Thanks for the love!
I was really skeptical about School of Rock. The only Jack Black movie I sort of like is The Holiday and it’s not really a Jack Black movie so I was not planning to see this but now maybe I’ll give it a chance! Thanks for the tip.
