In many way my mother and I could not be more different. Despite the differences in personality and fashion preferences between me and my mama, we’ve always been super close. She’s my voice of reason and who I always turn to for advice.
She may not have been able to teach me how to do makeup since she doesn’t wear makeup, but what she has taught me indirectly about health and wellness is so much more important.
Keep the fridge stocked with the essentials and healthy snacks.
Growing up there was always an assortment of healthy snacks in the fridge– baby carrots and apples were my personal faves.
A perfect Friday night is sushi + Say Yes to the Dress.
I used to hate the idea of doing nothing on a Friday night.I have since learned to love lazy Friday evenings. More often than not my mother and I are spending our Friday night the exact same way– eating sushi and watching Friday Bride Day on TLC 🙂
How to keep in touch with friends.
I’ve always been inspired by my mom’s ability to keep in touch with friends both near and far. It gives me hope that I too will continue to be in touch with my childhood friends.
Follow your passion.
I know my mom loves her job as a children’s librarian, and she’s really great at what she does.
Nothing beats live theater
Neither of my parents are performers, however they both love theater, in particular musical theater, and have shared that love with both my brother and me.
Read every night before you go to bed.
My mother ends every single day by reading in bed before going to sleep, and I have always followed suit. I swear it’s the best way to end the day.
Happy [belated] Mother’s Day to my Mom and all the motherly figures out there. Thank you for all you do!
