Yoga Teacher Training forced me to take a step back and reevaluate my current fitness regiment. During those four weeks of training, I was doing yoga (basically) every day, whether it was the 60 minute flow we started every weekday with, the additional movement we did throughout the day or practicing with my fellow trainees on the weekends.
As I mentioned in my recap of week one, I was way too tired (and sore!) to even think about working out before or after our 8:30AM-5:30PM training days, and only squeezed in two strength classes at Uplift during the entire four weeks. Okay and some flying trapeze.
It felt SO good to do that much yoga, 99% of the time I woke up excited to start my day with a sweaty, juicy, vinyasa flow. Yoga is what my body has been craving since running the NYC Marathon and I’ve truthfully been struggling to motivate myself and push hard during intense classes since then. Yes, I still love strength training, but it’s still been super hard for me to muster up that motivation, something I never used to struggle with.
As much as I loved doing yoga #everydamnday, I did start to notice a decline in my fitness abilities. My first class back at Body Space Fitness basically killed me because I had only done 8 minutes of cardio all month. I also don’t feel nearly as strong during flying trapeze.
While yoga teacher training reminded me that I need to listen to my body, something I always telling others to do but am not so great at doing myself, I’m now starting to plan my workout week using a mixture of what my body craves (more yoga and other lower-intensity workouts) and what I also need to stay strong enough to do the things I love to do such as flying trapeze.
As of right now, here’s my new week in fitness:
2 vinyasa yoga classes
1 strength focused class (Uplift)
1 strength/cardio hybrid (Body Space Fitness)
1 barre class (The Bar Method just joined Fitreserve!)
1 trapeze class
Question: What’s your typical week in workouts look like?

I would love to do an Uplift class with you soon! It would be a fun way to see each other and then catch up!
