Hi guys! Is it just me or is EVERYONE getting back in the swing of things now that it’s September?
Whenever I have a lot to say and no organized way of saying it all, it’s time for a Virtual Coffee Date. Lots of fun things to share with you all, including how grad school is going (!!!) and the details for this month’s Holistic Happening event! Let’s catch up, shall we?
If we were having coffee today… we’d talk about grad school and how that’s going!
Holy moly is it WEIRD to be back in school. For the record, I did go back to school once already 3 years ago when I was taking the prerequisite courses to eventually apply to physical therapy programs. Spoiler alert: that didn’t go so well (I SUCK at science) and I dropped out to take a full-time position at ClassPass.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was nervous to go back to school, again. It’s expensive and it’s time consuming.
While I don’t know what the future holds, and what I eventually want to do with my life (who does, really…) so far I’m feeling confident in my decision to get my masters in Social Media + Mobile Marketing and that whatever happens next it will have been a good choice.
I’ve now had all of my classes at least once, and so far, so good! I’m taking three classes this semester — Data Analysis, Marketing Management and Foundations of Social + Mobile Technologies.
- Data Analysis is essentially a statistics course all done on Excel. I suck at Excel but don’t suck at using computers so I think it’s going to be alright. I also once upon a time didn’t suck at math (I took calculus in high school, I swear!) so there’s hope for me yet!
- Marketing Management is like Marketing 101 for grad students. Even though I’ve worked in marketing for a few years, I’m excited to finally cover some of the basics and foundations of marketing that I never got to learn. All my previous marketing knowledge came from learning on the job! Our final project is creating the full scale marketing strategy for a new product. I’m a little nervous about doing a group project– I’m used to flying solo.
- Foundations of Social + Mobile Technologies is the first time I’m taking an online course. So far we’ve been discussing the changing landscape and demographics of social media use. It’s totally nerdy, but I’m already loving discussing all things social media on our class discussion board. You mean I’m getting graded to talk about social media? That’s something I do for fun…
The biggest adjustment has been getting used to my new schedule. I like structure and routine, so once I figure out what works best for my current class schedule as far as balancing classes, homework, work, blogging, fitness and socializing, I’ll feel a bit more settled in.
If we were having coffee today… I’d invite you to this month’s Holistic Happening event!
I created Holistic Happening with my partner-in-crime, Leslie, as a way to connect like-minded individuals through interactive wellness events. Our September event is scheduled for September 26th at Primary, a wellness minded co-working space. I’ll lead a 45-minute vinyasa yoga class and then we’ll enjoy a healthy dinner created by Leslie.
Sign up for class here! Hope to see you there 🙂
If we were having coffee today… I’d also remind you about my partnership with YG Studios this month!
This morning I went to the 7:30AM yoga class taught by Alexa. The class was SO good, a perfect mix of sweating and stretching, as you can see from the sweaty photo above.
I suck at waking up early was was super paranoid I’d miss my alarm this morning. Knowing I would see some familiar faces in class was the motivation I needed to get my ass out of bed at 6:15AM. But now I need YOU to sign up and keep me motivated.
I’ll also be attending the 7:30AM class on September 20, 22, 27 and 29th and would LOVE to see you there, bright and early. And don’t forget, your first class is FREE. Sign up for class here!
Your turn… if we were having coffee today what would you tell me about?
