One of these days I’ll have my shit together when it comes to these Favorite Things posts 🙂 Today of course is not that day 😂
Fashion I’m Loving…
Rose Gold Nike Sneaks
Oh hello, beautiful. Full disclosure I received both these sneaks and the ones below thanks to a partnership with Modell’s I did for instagram. I love both of them so dang much I wanted to share about them here too.
You can find these rose gold sneaks here.
Adidas Neo Hightops
I legit searched far and wide at like five Modell’s for these sneakers. Boy am I happy I found them!
Not sure if I’m cool enough to pull them off (ha!) but I absolutely adore them. Currently wearing them with a dress as I type this 🙂
Purchase these bad boys here.
Foods I’m Loving…
Catering from Nanoosh.
I hosted a small Chanukah dinner party for some of my Birthright friends. And as we all know, I don’t cook. I’ve used Nanoosh for catering a few times and I’m always SO impressed. The checkout process was super easy, the food arrived early and it wasn’t crazy expensive.
Springbone
I feel like I’m super late to the Springbone + bone broth party. Better late than never?
Leslie and I had a business meeting pow-wow here one afternoon and it was perfect. The food was SO good — I had the mexican bowl which came with delicious chicken bone broth on the side, and there’s free wifi.
Heads up they don’t have bathrooms. So don’t drink too much bone broth if you’re planning on hanging out for awhile.
Ever since we went I’ve been dying to go back just to get an afternoon cup of broth.
What I Watched…
On the theater front I saw Falsettos, A Bronx Tale and Oh, Hello
Unfortunately Falsettos closed this weekend, but WOW. What a freaking amazing production with a legit dream team cast. If you’re looking for a new cast recording to fall in love with, give this one a shot. I’ve been listening to it NON STOP since seeing it again with Jeremy’s sister. Yes, I went back again before it closed.
Be on the look out because one of the performances was filled for streaming and will be released soon!
I thought A Bronx Tale was okay. I wasn’t familiar with the movie so went in pretty clueless about what it would be about. The story is certainly interesting, but production as a whole was nothing special.
Oh Hello was absolutely hilarious. So much Jewish, New York, theater humor, all of which obviously pertain to me. If you like Nick Kroll and John Mulaney’s schtick, or just need a good, ridiculous, laugh, this is your show.
I also saw Moana in theaters. As a total Disney + Lin Manuel Miranda buff I was not disappointed. Legit cannot stop listening to the soundtrack (I basically alternate between this and Falsettos at work), it’s SO good.
What I Read…
ALL the Judy Blume. Seriously. I’m making my way through all her adult books, reading Wifey and Summer Sisters in December.
Wifey was enjoyable, but more of a “period piece” than anything, about a bored, housewife in the 1970’s. As a not married, college educated, twenty-something living + working in NYC, I didn’t necessarily relate to the dated struggles of the main character.
It did get me thinking a lot about how lucky I feel to be a female now versus then, someone allowed to have a career and ambitions beyond being a mother and someone’s wife (mayhaps another rant for another time) so while I didn’t love the book, I certainly enjoyed it.
I absolutely LOVED Summer Sisters and would say it was maybe even my favorite book I read in 2016. It follows two unlikely best friends from their awkward pre-teen days to life after college. Judy Blume is a freaking master at making you fall in love with characters, and this book is no exception. Also, the ending left me absolutely speechless. SO GOOD.
Your turn: What are you reading / eating / wearing / watching?

Ok, gonna have to check out those Judy Blume books! She was a fave of mine as a kiddo! I always find myself nudging my students in the direction of her books.

She was my fave growing up too! For her adult books I recommend starting with In the Unlikely Event or Summer Sisters.
