Whatup, February 🙌🏻
You know the drill, it’s time for a round-up of things I’m loving. Just a heads up a lot of these are from LA 🙂 and a lot of these are mediocre food pictures…
Now that you’ve been warned, let’s jump to it!
Foods I’m Loving…
The Sunrise Burrito from by Chloe.
This burrito is my new BFF. It’s not pretty and it’s a bit mess, but hot damn is it GOOD. I’ve been getting it post workout on the weekends when my usual brunch buddies (aka the boy or my parents) aren’t in town OR on my way to work when I’m extra hungry before 9AM.
FYI, by Chloe now serves brunch on weekdays until 11AM. Yahoo, yahoo!
The RFD Sammie from Real Food Daily (LA).
I secretly get so excited to flight out of LAX because it means I get to go to Real Food Daily (in the American Terminal, BTW!) The above vegan breakfast sammie has become my absolute favorite. I’ve been craving it ever since — wanna open up shop in NYC, please?
The mung bean quesadilla from Hugo’s (LA)
I always go to Hugo’s more than once when I’m in LA 🙂 It’s just the absolute best. I can’t believe I’ve never tried their vegan quesadilla OR their vegan tomato soup. Both were EXCELLENT, and particularly good together. I was in dairy-free heaven after this meal.
What I Read..
Smart Women by Judy Blume.
This book honestly ended up being my least favorite of Judy Blume’s adult novels. I didn’t hate it, but I definitely didn’t love it. Perhaps it’s because of the subject matter — the story revolves around divorced women living in Colorado, but I couldn’t get into the characters and story like with her other books. Towards the end though it did get really interesting and surprisingly dark.
I am a bit sad that I’ve now read all her books geared towards adults. Please write more soon, Judy!
Power Your Happy by Lisa Sugar.
I chatted a bit about this book already, and overall enjoyed it despite having a few issues with it.
Lisa Sugar is no doubt an awesome, inspiring, person — she created Pop Sugar with her husband which is no small feat. I like that each chapter had key takeaways and would maybe recommend it to someone just starting off their career and starting to navigate the cooperate world. It speaks to that side of the equation more so than launching your own company.
What I Watched…
Jeremy and I went to three movies in January, which is pretty much unheard of for us! I’m weird and don’t love movies… I’d rather see theater. But I loved all three movies we went to — Moana (which I talked about last month by accident), La La Land and Manchester By The Sea.
I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions about La La Land, but I personally loved it — and so did Jeremy. I appreciate that it was reminiscent of old Hollywood musicals. I’m a little sad though that it’s probably gonna win the Oscar for best original song instead of Lin Manuel Miranda for Moana.
I was an emotional wreck after Manchester By The Sea. It’s both so devastating and so funny at the same time, but I so enjoyed it.
On the TV front I’m totally hooked on this season of America’s Next Top Model and my friend got me obsessed with Project Runway- Juniors while I was in LA. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to start watching Project Runway!
Other Random Things…
Seeing the pink sunrise
Once a week or so I’ve been taking a 6:15AM class at Body Space Fitness. Waking up at 5:30AM sucks, but I love getting out of class at 7:00AM to see gorgeous sunrises like the one above on 14th Street.
Teaching yoga at Thrive Global.
My wellness events company Holistic Happening kicked off 2017 with a huge yoga + goal setting event with Arianna Huffington’s new company, Thrive Global. I still kind of pinch myself that this happened.
I was SO nervous before the event, because it was a free event we weren’t sure if no one was going to show up or 100 people were going to show up. I can’t even describe the high I felt after this event, it was SO special to get to share Holistic Happening with so many people and be a part of Thrive Global’s pop-up shop.
Also, I learned that I look like Peter Pan when I teach, as demonstrated in the above photo. The more you know!
(Pssst… we’re doing vegan brunch + yoga Saturday!)

And go to RFD at LAX. It’s the best airport treat ever
Gianna @ Run, Lift, Repeat says
I was just on a work trip to LA – and also happened to somehow be my first time there – and we went to Hugo’s after hiking and OMG. Obsessed. Since our company is bicoastal we let everyone who travels out there know to go.

The perfect LA day in my opinion! I always go to Hugo’s a minimum of 2 times while I’m there, it’s just too good!
