Last week’s What I Ate Wednesday was a hit! I can’t guarantee this will become a weekly staple — I eat the same thing almost every day so it would get real boring real fast. But for now I’ll keep ’em coming.
Yesterday’s eating theme ended up being “It is what it is.” Did I eat kale + brown rice for two meals in a row? Yup. Did I fail to eat a full breakfast? Yup yup.
But that’s life, my friends.
I wasn’t going to curate my choices just cuz I was taking photos of everything I ate. And I def wasn’t going to lie about what I ate. Full, unfiltered, Kayla eats coming your way.
Also… I changed my outfit four times yesterday. Just thought you should know 😂
What I Ate Wednesday
Breakfast
I enjoyed a glorious sleep-in before a morning yoga event. Don’t hate me, I spent all semester waking up at 5:30AM to workout before internship, I swear!
Once again I forgot to take a picture of my white chocolate macadamia Luna Bar. Just use your imagination 🙂 Since I had breakfast late and the event went later than I expected, no breakfast part two for me.
On my way home from the event I grabbed my usual soy chai latte.
Lunch
I wasn’t lying when I said I make cheezy chickpeas and kale over brown rice every day. After the AM event I needed to quickly shower, get ready for a photoshoot and eat lunch. I love this meal because it’s pretty quick and I know I won’t screw it up…
Snack
On the way home from my photoshoot, I got a soy matcha latte. Guy, I’m addicted. It’s a real problem.
I need to buy more pretzels so Pipcorn had to suffice for snack time while I got some work done.
Dinner
Going out to dinner is a big part of my social life. I don’t drink so instead of meeting friends for drinks, I always meet them for dinner. Yesterday I met up with my friend Annica at one of our favorite restaurants Ngam.
To start we shared the “Tum Tang” Watermelon Slaw. Truth be told, Annica wasn’t a fan but I liked it.
When I made the chickpeas + kale + rice for lunch I totes knew I was going to order Ngam’s kale fried rice for dinner too. Hence the theme of the day being it is what it is. Eating brown rice twice in one day isn’t the worst thing in the world… right?
Your turn: Any other rice fiends out there? Do you have days when you’re just like eff it, this is the best I can do food wise?

i loooooove brown rice!!! i used to try to avoid eating things like quinoa and brown rice and whole wheat bread no more than at one meal a day, but screw that. those things help eating healthy meals more enjoyable (in my mind) and keep me full for longer. plus they taste so good – i love how brown rice has a nutty flavor to it!
