Hello, July!
I realize these posts have become more of a monthly recap than anything. It’s always a fun opportunity for me to go through my photos from the month and share some highlights that didn’t already make their way to the blog.
Favorite Things From June
Fashion I’m Loving
this bralette from Lively
I’ve always been iffy about bralettes… for starters I’m far from flat-chested. Lively kindly sent me this bralette and I’m in love. It’s a comfy but cute alternative to when I would usually wear sports bras with certain tank tops or dresses that show my bra.
Foods I’m Loving
Wildway Grain-free Granola
I’m not grain-free or paleo (or even close) BUT this granola is so freaking good. I love that Wildway’s granola is only made with the good stuff — no funky ingredients or oils. My favorite is the coconut cashew.
Leslie’s Dairy Free Shrimp Alfredo Recipe
As you guys know by now, cooking is not my strongest suit. I’ve been SERIOUSLY craving shrimp lately (weird, I know). Leslie’s dairy-free shrimp Alfredo recipe inspired me to cook shrimp for the first time AND make some dairy-free alfredo sauce.
Guys, it was a SUCCESS! If you follow me on instagram, you know I raved about this recipe and the leftovers all week on IG stories. Who knew making shrimp was SO easy?
I used Banza chickpea pasta for the first time as part of this dish. Even though I’m the exact opposite of gluten-free (gimme ALL the gluten, por favor!) I was curious to try this protein-packed alternative.
I was SO impressed. The texture of this pasta is pretty spot on and it gave this dish a little extra oomph.
Health Ade Kombucha — Sweet Thorn
I’m still new to this whole kombucha thang. Health Ade’s Sweet Thorn flavor has become a new favorite. I don’t like carbonated beverages, but can handle this one for whatever reason.
It’s light and refreshing and I like drinking it in the evenings when I’m craving something sweet but don’t want a full dessert. And hey, booch is good for your belly, right?
Watermelon Matcha at Loosie’s in Williamsburg
Yes you read that right — Watermelon Matcha! The combination sounds a bit bizarre but it’s oh so refreshing.
Also… Loosie’s is hands down the CUTEST cafe I’ve ever been to. The vibe legit makes me feel like I’m on vacation, even if I’m banging out some work on my laptop while I’m there.
What I Read
Startup by Doree Shafrir
I thought Startup was good but not great. It follows the rise of fictitious mindfulness app, Takeoff, and the inner drama of the people that work at this company. It took me a bit to sort out who the various characters are, but once the story gets going it’s a lot of fun.
As someone that has worked at a few start-ups now, both big and small, some of this novel was all too real to my start-up experience. But therefore it was also hilarious and accurate.
What I’m Listening To
I’m always on the hunt for new, inspiring, usually entrepreneurial, podcasts to listen to. Lately I’ve been loving:
Hungry For More by Angie Lee. Angie is clearly a marketing force to be reckoned with. Her podcast focuses on health coaches but even though I’m not a health coach, I’ve found it both inspiring and useful. The episodes are on the shorter side but always full of nuggets of wisdom. Note: I think the name of this podcast recently changed to Rich Bitch.
Almost 30. I cherry-pick episodes of Almost 30 based on what sounds interesting and relevant to me.
Most episodes are hilarious hosts Lindsay and Krista interviewing cool people doing cool things. My favorite episodes so far have been Episode 43: What Makes An Entrepreneur (which is also how I found out about Angie Lee’s podcast above!) and the bonus episode with Lauren McGoodwin, who created Career Contessa.

What I’m Watching
On the TV front I’m mourning the loss (okay, end of this season) of Rupaul’s Drag Race and Silicon Valley.
Jeremy and I also binge watched season two of Master of None this month. We finished the last episode this weekend and I’m still very emotional about it. I won’t dish out spoilers, I promise, but if you watch the show can you please email your thoughts on the final bit?
If you haven’t watched Master of None, DO IT. It’s one of the smartest, most well crafted yet funniest TV shows I’ve seen, uh, ever.
On the theater front…
I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch in Boston (more on that below!)
Jeremy and I went to see Waitress on Broadway (again) for Sara Bareilles’ last performance as Jenna.
It’s funny, the first time Jeremy and I saw Waitress we liked it, but it definitely wasn’t love. We’ve now accidentally seen it four times. Yes, accidentally. I’ve totally fallen in love with the musical and swear the character Dawn is my spirit animal. Whenever people ask me for Broadway show recommendations, I always include Waitress.
And I saw the current revival of Miss Saigon on Broadway. My brother got to see the original production on Broadway in the 1990’s. My parents thought I was too young to see the show and I’ve forever been jealous that he got to go and I didn’t.
Well, I finally got to see Miss Saigon and holy moly did I love it. I was familiar with the music having heard my brother sing the score obsessively growing up. Plus we sang a medley of songs in choir in high school. Even knowing bits and pieces of the story I wasn’t prepared for how emotional the whole experience would be. I waited 20 years and it was worth it!
Going to Boston
Jeremy and I spent a weekend in Boston. We legit went so I could see the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch on tour and so he could go to his favorite breweries.
Both of us have been to Boston a number times so we didn’t do a ton while we were there.
We did end up in the North End area for dinner both nights, Boston’s version of Little Italy. We had a great dinner at Di Fiore’s and I loved their homemade pasta 😍
Other random things
I’m [very] late to the Pinterest party. At long last, I am a convert. I’ve been working my way through Melyssa Griffin’s course Pinfinite Growth. Now I finally understand the power of this social media tool.

Cryotherapy
I hit up two Cryotherapy sessions, one at Chill Space and the other at Cryofuel.
Both were excellent experiences. I’ll be honest [when am I not…] it’s bit to expensive for me to uh chill out on a regular basis. But I do love cryotherapy when I can go and think it would be helpful to anyone training for a big ass race this summer.

I love the idea of bralettes, but sadly they just do not work for me! :/

So cute in theory, but not always functional!

I just finished all 5 seasons of Covert Affairs (so good!) so I’m looking for a new show to watch. I’ll have to check out Master of None. Thanks!

Ooh I’ll have to look into Covert Affairs. I’m STILL thinking about Master of None — and sad I have to wait for more new episodes.
