This week marks 1 year since the first Holistic Happening event. Holy smokes guys, how has it been a year!?
That night I taught my first [public] yoga class. I was terrified shitless! I won’t pretend I’m some high and mighty yoga teacher now. I’m constantly refining and finding ways to improve. But in the last year of teaching consistently, I’ve started to find my style and [no pun intended] flow.
For me music has been a big part of finding my voice as a yoga teacher. I’m a musical theater nerd through and through, so you bet I’m sneaking some Hamilton onto every playlist. Green Day is my favorite band [yup!] so some pop-punk usually makes an appearance. My parents are huge Dead Heads and I can’t resist playing the Grateful Dead.
I’m always legit SO excited about my playlists, and I hope that joy shines through in the classes I teach. My classes aren’t very traditional or serious and I like to think my playlists reflect that.
Below is one of my favorite 45-minute yoga playlists. For Holistic Happening events we like to keep the yoga portion to 30-45 minutes. It makes the classes a bit more accessible for those new to yoga.
Comment below with your favorite tunes to flow to. I’m always looking for song recommendations!

I absolutely LOVE when yoga classes have real music. Silent classes or instrumental playlists put me to sleep but I love this mix you posted. Any yoga class that can fit some Queen Brit into the mix sounds great to me! I’m back in NYC in September so here’s hoping you’re teaching while I’m there and I can get to one of your classes!
