Hi guys, Happy Monday! What is WITH this weather in NYC? I’m all for summer, don’t get me wrong, but I had emotionally prepared myself for fall weather. In the mean time I’m soaking up these last [hella] hot days and wearing my cute sun dresses and Birkenstocks one last time.
I’m gonna recap my weekend A Lady Goes West style since a few fun things went down plus a look at my workouts lately. Here we go!
Weekend Recap
Friday
I had been in Westchester to celebrate the Jewish holidays with my family. After going to temple and lunch with my parents, brother and grandma, Jeremy drove me back to the city. Any time I can avoid taking the train I’m a happy camper.
Our typical Friday night ritual is Indian food but I haven’t been in the mood for it as much lately. We’re on a total ramen kick and instead went to Ichiba for spicy Tantanmen Ramen (<— it’s chicken based which I LOVE since I don’t eat red meat or pork) and kimchi fried rice. Hot weather or not, I love me some ramen.
Saturday
After taking a few days off of working out while I was in Westchester, I was legit in the moooood to sweat. My wrist has been bothering me for a few days. Not sure if I landed on it funny while I was teaching or just did something clumsy that I don’t remember. Anyways, I figured a spin class would be the most wrist friendly option so I hit up CYC Fitness for some sweaty cardio.
For brunch Jeremy and I went to our favorite, La Palapa on St. Marks. If you ever go for brunch order the huevos rancheros verde [I opt for no dairy on it as well]. It’s soooo good.
And then we went to the Global Citizens Festival in Central Park.
I am NOT a festival person. Like, at all. I don’t like crowds. And because of a phobia I have, concerts can be somewhat stressful for me. But my favorite band [Green Day!] was playing and it was a great cause to support.
It sounds silly, but I’m proud of myself for putting myself in a potential phobia situation. And it ended up being a great night. I couldn’t get over how cool it was to be in the middle of NYC listening to my favorite band. Besides Green Day absolutely freaking crushing it, seeing Stevie Wonder live was also amazing.
Sunday
Wrist issues be damned, I went to Uplift’s Strength class and modified as needed. In case you’re wondering, when Jeremy is here on the weekends I just workout before he wakes up and it’s NBD. After, Jeremy and I got brunch at Dos Caminos. Yes we eat out a lot — in all honesty it ends up being the best choice since we have vastly different dietary preferences and only spend weekends together for the most part.
Jeremy is currently student teaching so headed back home to Westchester to get some work done. I opted to have a super lazy day reading and swimming on the roof of my parent’s apartment [they spend weekends in the city].
This book is SO good. It’s by the same author as the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and it’s technically considered a YA novel, but oh my god I’m obsessed. Will do a full recap in my Favorites post at the end of the month!
My parents and I went out to dinner… and then it was basically bedtime for me because I get up at 4:15AM on Mondays 🙂
Weekly Workout Recap
And check out my plan for this week on instagram.
MONDAY: Yoga Sculpt at CorePower Yoga
TUESDAY: Body Camp 2.0 at Body Space Fitness (<— I’m LOVING this new class there!)
WEDNESDAY: Spin class at Soul Cycle
THURSDAY: REST
FRIDAY: REST
SATURDAY: Spin at CYC Fitness [and does jumping around at Global Citizens count?]
SUNDAY: Strength at Uplift Studios
Thoughts On My Week of Workouts
Unfortunately right now I have to focus more on what workouts fit my budget vs. the workouts I “should” be doing. Yes, I could just go to a gym and workout on my own. But I’m also the least self motivated personal trainer out there. I love the group fitness atmosphere — and because I live along and work from home most days, my working is sometimes the only time I’m social during the day!
I feel fortunate that I can go to CorePower Yoga for free [I love my job!] and Soul Cycle has a partnership with CPY this month which got me in for free last week.
Sometimes for me working out at all — and honoring my weird wrist pain — is more important than focusing on a fitness goal and working out for that.
Your turn: Do anything fun this weekend? Also, anyone else meh about festivals or am I the only one?

i heard the global citizens festival was amazing!!!!! i honesty am not the biggest festival person either (of any kind) because i really dislike dealing with people who don’t have a sense of space or self awareness (or are simply too drunk, let’s be real…haha), but i’ve now been to 2 this summer and kind of love it!! i just think it’s awesome to see so many wonderful artists in one space. i’m glad you enjoyed yours 🙂
and that book sounds so gooooood!!! i will never be too old for YA novels!

I definitely love the idea of festivals in theory — when else could I see Green Day and Stevie Wonder on the same day?
