Happy, happy Friday! I’m feeling a huuuuuge sigh of relief this week after taking a midterm Monday.
Not gonna lie, it’s always hard for me to hunker down and get studying. I’d MUCH rather be writing and creating playlists + sequences for yoga. I even did procrastination laundry last week which means I was REALLY trying to avoid studying.
On the bright side, I realized this week I only have 4 more classes to take for grad school. YASSSS. I’m in the home stretch!
Here are some of my favorites from the week. Would love to hear what you’ve been loving as well in the comments!
These Are a Few Of My Favorite Things // Vol. 4
â– ¶ï ¸Ž Chicken broth from Springbone Kitchen
It’s been COLD this week. Or maybe my blood has just thinned thanks to the 6+ months of summer we just had in NYC. I’ve been craving soup all week. Happy to report I have succeeded in having soup for at least one meal every day. Sometimes it’s a part of two…
I hit up Springbone for an afternoon snack Wednesday. So damn good. I’ve only tried the classic chicken [I don’t eat beef] and it’s ridiculously flavorful. I have a feeling I’ll be heading to Springbone often this winter for a warm, afternoon pick-me-up.
â– ¶ï ¸Ž I got a new computer!
I’m coming from a brand spanking new MacBook Pro! I’ve been in need of a new computer for over a year now. My old laptop was on it’s last leg and really slow. At first, I ran it with laptop battery replacement and other few fixes. It went well for a few years, but now I have a new one! It took me over a year though to finally bite the bullet and purchase a new one. Laptops are EXPENSIVE and I didn’t wanna make a rash decision.
The decision making process stressed me out! And there’s only so many MacBooks to choose from!
I was also terrified that the second I purchased a computer, a newer model would come out that week. The fear is REAL. So far that has not happened (I’m still paranoid!) and I’m starting to get used to the new computer.
I ended up opting for the new MacBook Pro with the TouchBar. Not because I think the TouchBar is essential — it’s not — but I wanted to have 4 ports to plug things in. I also needed 1 TB of storage. What can I say, I have A LOT of crap on my computer. As opposed to my previous laptop, I may have to be more careful this time around with its battery. It could be helpful to have software suite such as systemd (equipped with tools like SystemCTL) installed on my brand-new laptop, which generally allows the user to control and shut down the various background operations that are draining the battery.
My biggest complaint so far is that the ports are not your typical USB ports. I had to buy an adapter to use USB sticks, charge my phone and upload photos from an SD card. Pain in the ass but I’m managing (and bought this all-in-one port to make life a bit easier).
I sometimes like to work with a second monitor but my monitor is legit from 2002. It’s the monitor from my family’s old computer and need to buy an adapter to make it work with the new ports. Or I need to just buy a new monitor that’s not from the turn of the century…
I’m deciding what I want to do about cases — are they REALLY necessary? In the meantime I have a marble “skin” from UNIQFIND. Can I BE anymore basic?
Somehow I just rambled on about a computer for 5 paragraphs. Moving on…
â– ¶ï ¸Ž Slip-On Adidas Sneaks
Because I really need more athleisure sneakers in my life. I’m OBSESSED with these sneaks and have been wearing them every change I can with jeans or yoga pants. They run a bit large — mine are a 6.5 when I’m usually a size 7.5 or 8.
Isn’t it funny how when I moved to NYC I wouldn’t have been caught DEAD wearing sneakers with jeans? Now it’s hip 😂
â– ¶ï ¸Ž Catching up with good friends over dinner.
I haven’t been all that social since school started up again in September. Gotta love those night classes 🙄 Sure I hang out with people as a yoga teacher and the events I host. And I run into friends at events. But I forgot how good it feels to just catch up with girlfriends while eating tasty ramen on a cold night.
â– ¶ï ¸Ž Finished reading: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
This week I finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. As you guys know I LOVE her books. This one had a different format. I’d say I liked it but didn’t love it like many of the others. It dragged on at parts (I mean, we had to get through seven husbands!) but was an enjoyable bedtime read.
I SO haven’t been in the mood for personal development books lately. When I crawl into bed I want to decompress and get lost in a captivating narrative. Anyone else go through different reading phases?
â– ¶ï ¸Ž working out at Rumble for the first time
Last week I was invited to class at the new-ish boxing studio Rumble with Armitron watches. Oh my god did I have SO much fun. I’ve taken my fair share of boxing classes and Rumble just might be my favorite in NYC. Also, all New Yorkers should really take up boxing to let out some pent out aggression 😂 Full review coming soon!

Those snickers seem awesome and very comfortable, Kayla. That book sounds interesting, would you recommend it?

I really enjoyed the book! It’s nothing earth shattering but a fun, relatively quick, read!
