Friday, I’m so freaking happy to see you.
Anyone else have one of those weeks 🙋 I dunno if it’s the post-holiday craziness, end of semester craziness or what but it’s been a LONG week. I’m learning how to be grateful for busy-ness. But if I’m going to be honest, I also really want a nap.
My weekend plans are to sleep-in, and get a shit ton of work done. The grad school hustle never ends.
What are you up to this weekend? Any fun, winter-y plans? I know my mom and I want to hit up the Union Square Holiday Market before it gets too crazy.
It’s been a hot second since I’ve shared some favorites. Sometimes my life is just plain boring and I eat the same old thangs and watch the same TV shows. But here are some favorites from the past few weeks:
THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS // VOL. 5
▶︎ Apple cider vinegar shots
I’m SO late to the apple cider vinegar game. Ugh, I just couldn’t imagine stomaching something that seemed so vile. After trying Vermont Village’s flavor shots at Foundermade I’m hooked!
Apple cider vinegar is believed to help aid in digestion, reduce inflammation and boost your immune system. I need to look more into the benefits but I figured why not try it out?
My favorites of the ones I’ve tried are the fruity blueberry and cranberry.
▶︎ Unicorn nails
Some of you will look at these sparkly ass nails and thing yeesh. I, however, feel like a freaking unicorn and I’m LOVING it.
After being a gel manicure girl for 7 years, I’ve switched over to the powder manicure life. They last a tad longer than gel. I also like that they feel a bit thicker. And they have mad glittery options like my current unicorn nails.
If you’re in NYC, I’m a fan of Mumu on 8th and Broadway for powder manicures. And glittery goodness…
▶︎ Facon, Egg and Vegan Cheese Sandwich
For some odd reason I’ve been craving breakfast sandwiches lately. Which is problematic when you’re dairy-free and basically vegetarian.
I’ve been making a Kayla-friendly breakfast sandwich with tempeh, a fried egg and tofu cheese on an Ezekiel english muffin. It’s real quick and real good! Apologies that the picture of my creation SUCKS. Real talk: I wanted to eat the damn thing while it was still warm and then had to rush off to class.
▶︎ the Mulled Spiced latte from Toby’s Estate
When it comes to coffee shops, I’m real basic and go to Starbucks 99% of the time. Gimme all the side eye you want. I hit up Toby’s Estate in Williamsburg for a coffee date with my manager and we both got Mulled Spiced Lattes with soy milk. Uh, it tastes like Christmas in a cup. Not that I would really know, I’m Jewish.
But take my word for it, it’s good. A lovely mix of cranberry and spicy goodness plus two shots of espresso. You bet I’ll be back for more soon!
▶︎ the MakeupDrop
First things first, I have zero beauty skills. I’ve been using a Beauty Blender for a little while now to apply foundation, which works well but I always feel it absorbed a decent amount of foundation. I’ve been using the MakeupDrop this week and so far I really like it! I don’t need to use nearly as much foundation since it’s not being sucked into a sponge.
▶︎ currently reading: Single Minded by Lisa Daily
Single-Minded is a funny look at modern-day dating. Alex just found out her husband, Michael, is gay and cheated on her. Having been with Michael since they were little, Alex now has to navigate single life and life without Michael. It’s not the best book I’ve read this year, but it’s certainly enjoyable and a fun, light read before I go to sleep.
▶︎ Trixie and Katya on Viceland
As you guys know by now, I LOVE RuPaul’s Drag Race. Trixie and Katya now have their own show on Viceland and it’s freaking hilarious. And vulgar. You’ve been warned.
I watch it while I cook lunch and hardcore laugh out loud for most of the episode. If ya love drag queens talking about anything and everything, tune in.
