Happy Friday! I’m officially on spring break, what what! Even though I’m staying local and not heading outta town I’m very excited for some downtime. I decided to sub out most of my yoga classes next week and really treat the week as a vacation. Or I guess a staycation if you will.
I’m looking forward to sleeping in (YASSSS), doing some self-reflection (ALL the journaling), seeing lots of theater and checking out a new fitness studio.
THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS // VOL. 9
▶︎ I’ve been LOVING these Nike sneakers. They’re perfect for group fitness especially anything that’s strength or HIIT focused. Definitely going to get a second pair in another color.
✨
▶︎ I’m heading to Copenhagen and Stockholm (!!) in May for a class I’m taking. We’re expected to wear business attire at all meetings during the 10 days I’m there. Uh, I’m a yoga teacher and used to work at fitness start-ups, I only own yoga pants.
I’ve been on the hunt for cute, comfortable, reasonably priced business attire. Kind of tricky when you’re petite and refuse to wear heels.
So far my favorite finds have been:
••• this romper from Banana Republic. I’m OBSESSED
••• petite high-waisted pants from Asos.
••• this wrap jumpsuit from Asos
It looks like I’m going to wear a lot of rompers on this trip. Oops.
✨
▶︎ I teach Yoga Sculpt in just a sports bra. I find it FAR more comfortable when I’m sweating my ass off teaching in the heated room. Lululemon’s Energy Bra has been my go-to, it’s supportive enough when I’m jumping around but doesn’t feel excessively tight.
I’m also loving their newer version of the Energy Bra with braided straps.
✨
▶︎ Before this month I can’t even tell you the last time I took a bath. In the 7+ years I’ve lived in my apartment I think I only took one bath. And that’s because I had the worlds WORST sunburn.
While my body was having it’s bizarre meltdown last week (still dunno what the hell was up with that) I found baths to be SUPER helpful in calming my skin down. I didn’t do anything fancy. After teaching in the morning I’ve been filling up the tub with hot water, grab a magazine and sit for 15 minutes before taking a shower. So freaking relaxing!
✨
▶︎ I got some new glasses from Warby Parker. I don’t wear my glasses all that much, for the most part it’s just at night when I take out my contact lenses. But I like the idea of being able to wear my classes if I wanted to 😂
The entire experience with Warby Parker was top-notch — quick, easy and my glasses were only $95. Even my mom was impressed with the experience! I dragged her to their Soho store to help me sift through the wall of glasses and pick out a pair. I joked that I was going for Charlottes business gal chic look in Sex and the City. We agreed the Welty frames were the winner. I LOVE them.
✨
▶︎ On the reading front I’ve been experiencing a bit of book ADD — I just can’t seem to stick to one book. Right now I’m finally starting to get into You Are a Badass. It feels like just what I need at the moment as I hit my last stretch of grad school. Insert feeling of panic that I have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life.
✨
▶︎ One of my co-workers at CorePower Yoga wrote a book! It’s not out yet BUT I got a chance to glance at a press preview copy. Holy moly, I’m SO excited. Carola’s book, Tell Me Lies, is being touted as the next Luckiest Girl Alive (which I LOVED). June cannot come soon enough.

express has some really great business casual pieces!!! the stuff you picked out is super cute though – i can’t wait to hear about your trip to sweden!!! i’ve heard amazing things. and warby parker is pretty awesome, i ordered frames through them years ago and LOVE them. i wear my contacts 99% of the time i’m out and about, but at least i feel stylish at home 🙂

I neeeed to go to Express. Everyone is saying they have good petites. And I feel you on the classes from 😂 I like the option of being able to wear them even though I rarely do.

I can’t seem to stick to one book lately 🙈 but sometimes I’ll read both a mindless fiction novel and more personal growth focused non-fiction. I agree, it totes depends on my mood!

So I got the Banana Republic jumpsuit because you inspired me (even my roommate, who has openly told me rompers do me no favors, loved it), but now I’m second guessing myself because the ASOS one is so cute too! I do not need 2 jumpsuits, because I don’t even know when I’ll wear one haha. What’s your opinion? I’ve never ordered from ASOS before either.
Kayla says
I love both (haven’t had a chance to wear them out and about yet with this weather) and it totally depends on what you want them for. The neckline on the Asos one is a bit of a deep v-neck so if I wear it for a business event I’ll have to wear it with a tank underneath. But something about it feels a bit more formal whereas the one from Banana Republic I’ll probably wear for both “dress-up” and more casually dressed down with cute sandals if that makes sense.
I’m also now the owner of 3 black rompers. I’m kind of obsessed, haha.
