I’ve been trying to come up with the perfect, cutesy, intro for the episode but nothing seems fitting. The truth is, it’s one of my favorite episodes to date. Kristine Deer is the founder of the insanely popular activewear brand, K-DEER. If you don’t already own a pair of their signature bright, striped, leggings chances are you’ve seen a pair downward dogging in front of you in yoga class.
In 2013, after struggling to find comfortable, stylish, and functional workout apparel for her daily hot yoga practice, Kristine first developed the ‘Bum Bum’, a short short that quickly earned her a loyal yoga fan base.
She originally started selling the unique shorts on Etsy (and hand-made each pair!) and sold more than 800 pairs in the first year. She has since continued to design and develop K-DEER into a brand known for it’s vibrantly printed shorts, capris and leggings.
We Talk About…
- how K-DEER came to be.
- using social media to grow your business
- blending yoga with entrepreneurship and building a brand from a yogic stand-point
- the importance of feedback
- staying true to you and trusting your gut
- tips for inspiring creativity
- giving back: the story behind K-DEER’s signature stripes.
- normalizing the conversation around mental illness
