OKAY, it’s been a hot second since I’ve done one of these! So many things to share!
Where I’ve Been Working Out:
▶︎ I’ve been doing ALLLL the Bar Method this month. Bar Method Williamsburg has a great intro month deal: $99 for unlimited classes. Previously I was only going once a week or so on Fitreserve but it’s often times the only workout I feel like doing. I’ve been thinking about doing the deal for a while and finally decided why not.
I never thought I’d be obsessed with barre but I really am these days. Over the last two years my body has preferred low-impact workouts. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good, sweaty, workout, but after teaching in the heated room at CorePower sometimes the last thing I want to do is sweat some more.
I’m not sure if I’m going to continue on with a Bar Method membership. I keep going back and forth on whether or not to do it or just stick with Fitreserve. While I love Bar Method, it’s a bit of a pain in the ass to get to. As in I have to take the subway there versus going to other studios in my neighborhood. Those subway swipes add up, which makes me think it might not be worthwhile in the long run. Alas, it’s been a fun month pulsing it out in Williamsburg. Now I’m just keeping my fingers crossed they opened a studio in Flatiron
[Check out my full Bar Method review here] Note: Sadly the Soho studio has since closed, but the class is the same wherever you go.
▶︎ I’ve also been on a total y7 kick. If you follow me on instagram you know I was recently hired as a yoga teacher at y7. AHHHH! I’m wasting no time and taking full advantage of being able to take classes at the studio. I always leave the studio feeling a million times better and a million times lighter after getting sweaty.
Check out my full y7 review here, and stay tuned on IG for when I’ll be teaching 🙂
What I’ve Been Reading:
I’ve been ALL about the fiction this summer. Personal growth books, I love you, but right now I need a break. Instead I’ve been diving into some juicy novels lately.
▶︎ The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand: I wasn’t familiar with anything by Elin Hilderbrand prior to receiving this book in a swag bag from an event. I’m SO happy I stumbled upon this book, though, because it was the perfect summer read. The book is a bit of a murder mystery with a romantic twist.
A bride wakes up the morning of her wedding to find her maid-of-honor floating in the shore near the groom’s family estate. The wedding is now off (for many reasons) and follows the investigation of this supposed murder. During the investigation a whole lot of secrets come out and there are of course plot twists throughout.
I was totally addicted to this book and will definitely be reading more by Hilderbrand.
▶︎ Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering. I work with Carola at CorePower Yoga and have been waiting for this book since winter. When I heard the book was being compared to Luckiest Girl Alive I knew I had to read it ASAP. Well, it was worth the wait and the book has now been on like millennial focused reading list I’ve seen this summer.
The book follows the destructive, more often than not toxic, but sometimes sweet relationship between Lucy and Stephen. I think one of the reasons it’s been getting so much love and press is because it’s all too relatable — so many of us have a Stephen in our lives.
What I’ve Been Watching:
ON TV
▶︎ Younger. At least once a week someone would tell me I need to watch Younger. It’s the creator of Sex and the City! Sutton Foster and like every other person that’s ever been on Broadway! It’s so New York!
Whenever people tell me to watch some TV show I usually smile and nod and then ignore the recommendation. I don’t watch a whole lot of TV except reality shows and whatever I’m binge watching with Jeremy.
Okay I finally watched Younger and now I know what everyone was talking about. It’s SO good and addicting and I’m already sad that I’m almost caught up.
Younger follows Liza Miller, a 40-something-year-old getting back into the workforce now that her daughter is leaving for college. Problem is no one wants to hire her because of her age. So, she pretends to be 26 years old on her resume and voila, she gets a gig in publishing. The rest of the show follows Liza’s new life as a 26-year-old now living in Williamsburg.
Trust me, it’s so good. Go watch it on Hulu NOW. And then discuss it with me 🙂
▶︎ Community. Jeremy and I finished watching Community last week. The show takes a nosedive in later seasons but ultimately we agreed that it’s one of the best shows we’ve ever watched.
Both of us were surprised how much we loved this show and how brilliant the series is at it’s peak in the middle seasons. Worth watching on Hulu, for sure.
▶︎ Atlanta. Jeremy and I decided to watch Atlanta as our next show. We are both obsessed with anything having to do with Donald Glover so it seemed like the obviously choice for our next show.
We watched all of season one in a weekend and are now well into season two. The show is both brilliant and fascinating and deep all while being hilarious at times. Jeremy and I are both just in awe of how good Donald Glover is at everything. It’s not fair.
Theater
▶︎ Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (West End): As you guys know I spent some time in Copenhagen + Stockholm as part of a school trip in May. In order to use my air miles I had to make a pitstop in London both going there and coming back. I decided to make the most of it and spend 23 hours in London on my way home. Why the hell not? I’ve been to London a few times and knew my time would be limited, which is fine because the most important thing to me was seeing some theater.
I only had time to see one show while I was there and TORTURED myself over what to see. In the end I decided on Everybody’s Talking About Jamie after a friend highly recommended it. I fell in love with this show about a 16 year old boy that wants to attend his school prom in drag. It reminded me of a mix between Kinky Boots and Hairpsray so of course I was a fan.
▶︎ Mean Girls (Broadway): Can we all agree that Mean Girls is still one of the best movies about high school? And also one of the most quotable movies, period?
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the musical version of one of my favorite movie but was pleasantly surprised. It’s not a perfect musical by any means and has some high’s and low’s as far as songs go, but all-in-all I really enjoyed it. I’ve also been listening to the cast recording on repeat since I went. Revenge Party is an excellent get pumped song.
▶︎ Sweeney Todd (Off-Broadway): Okay, I’m not the biggest Sondheim fan. I’ve also never been crazy about Sweeney Todd as a show, I’d much rather see Company and cry about loneliness in NYC. BUT I’ve been curious about this interactive, downtown theater, take on Sweeney Todd. This version takes place in a literal pie shop and the action takes place all around you.
I still don’t love Sweeney Todd as a show, but I thoroughly enjoyed this production. Worth going to see!
▶︎ Boys In the Band (Broadway): When the cast was announced for Boys in the Band I knew I had to go. SO many spectacular actors — Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, and Andrew Rannells to name a few. When the show came out 50 years it was a big deal for the gay community. The play centers on a group of gay men gathering together for a friend’s birthday party. Things start to get a little messy and relationships get tested. As to be expected the play is a bit dated, but it did get me thinking about the fact that both a lot has changed in 50 years… but there’s still a lot more progress to be made in this country.
I’m glad I got to see this show while it’s on broadway for a short time. The acting is incredible, all around all-star performances from each actor.
What I’ve Been Eating:
▶︎ Babu Ji (Greenwich Village). Jeremy and I love Indian food and Babu Ji has become our new go-to spot. The restaurant offers a bit of a modern take on Indian classics. We always order the Colonel Tso’s cauliflower and Jeremy has been loving the short-rib while I order the shrimp in curry sauce. Yum.
▶︎ Siete Foods dairy-free queso. I’ve always been more of a salsa and guacamole gal when it comes to chips but the new queso sauce from Siete is ahhhmazing. I’ve just been eating it with chips but I’m sure it would be tasty with tacos.
✨
Your turn: What have you been loving lately?

omg I looooove bar method and that is an AMAZING deal! I’ll have to see if one near me is doing that, although truth be told, all of them are super hard for me to get to after work, which is the only reason I don’t go more often! and I have to get back into Y7 now that my elbow is healed – I hope you’re teaching when I’m in NYC, I want to take your class (or just go to one with you!)

I went to a few locations in LA when I was there in January, haha! I’m annoyed that there’s none in downtown Manhattan now though and hope that changes soon.
And yessss hope you can come take my class, otherwise we’ll def go together!
