Hi hi hi! Happy Friday guys!
It’s been a crazy week of teaching as a I mentioned on instagram. But it’s also been a good week. I’m looking forward to some low-key vibes this weekend and resting my voice.
It’s been a little while since my last favorites! Here’s what I’ve been loving lately:
Homemade matcha lattes
I’ve been making ALL the matcha lattes lately. Something about sipping them is just SO cozy to me. I recently got a Nespresso machine which came with a milk frother (<— the one I got is super compact, great for NYC kitchens!)
I didn’t know this, but you can make a matcha latte IN the milk frother by adding the matcha powder to your milk of choice. Easy peasy matcha latte at home!
Palo Santo
I’ve never been one to burn sage, I find the smell to be a bit much, but lately I’ve been digging palo santo. Sage is believed to clear ALL energy, whereas palo santo just gets rid of the bad stuff.
I’m not super “religious” about it, but sometimes when I’m switching gears from teaching to working at my desk I’ll “cleanse” my body by palo santo-ing the air around me.
The practice is a bit woo-woo for me. But lately I’ve been enjoying the ritual as a way to transition from one energy as a yoga teacher to the more subdued energy of working from home.
Jajaja on the Lower East Side
I’ve been wanting to go to Jajaja, a plant-based Mexican restaurant, since it first opened up. I finally got to go with a friend last week! We ordered a ton of different dishes to share. My favorites were the nachos — the best vegan nachos I’ve had — and the cute little baggy of Mexican Wedding cookies they serve to go. Needless to say I’ll be back soon!
What I’m Wearing:
It’s been CHILLY in NYC. WTF, New York. I’ve never been one to wear vests but was gifted a lovely puffy one by Lululemon last year and it’s my new favorite fall essential. I prefer wearing the vest over a crewneck sweatshirt when I’m heading out to teach a class. Guys, I get SO hot and stuffy on the subway, but I find the vest keeps my belly warm but lets my arms breathe. I can’t find the exact vest I have, but Lululemon has a similar one here.
What I’m Watching:
I watched ALL of season one of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel while traveling to and from LA earlier this month. I was SO stoked when I realized the plane had every episode available as I’ve been wanting to watch it. Guys, it lived up to the hype. It’s so so good and I’m already excited for season two. Although I sadly don’t have my own Amazon Prime account, hopefully Jeremy will let me log on to his 😂
What I’m reading:
I recently finished the book How Do You Like Me Now? by Holly Bourne and I LOVED it. I might be a bit partial to it because I could totally relate to many aspects of the story — the main character is an influencer of sort and has built her career as a self-help writer. She’s also in a 7+ year long relationship (I assure you my relationship with Jeremy is NOTHING like hers with her boyfriend, but aspects of being with the same person that long in your 20’s I can relate to). Definitely one of my favorite books I read this year.
This week I started reading When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri. I enjoyed her previous novel, The Assistants so was excited to pick up her next book.
What I’ve been up to:
I’m on the Husband and Wife podcast this week! I had the most fun recording this episode with my CorePower Yoga co-worker Alex and her husband Corey. We talk about social media realness, the best (and worst) parts about teaching yoga and blogging, advice for launching your own blog and body image. Listen to the episode here.
I also wrote a blog post for Bar Method blog all about why I love Bar Method vs. other barre studios I’ve been to. Read the post here.
