I’m sure it comes as no surprise to you that I live in athleisure. It comes with the territory of being a full-time fitness instructor. I rarely wear jeans these days — and I’m certainly not complaining about it.
Even when I’m not teaching I want to be comfy and cozy. I’ve read about a million articles about the importance of getting dressed in real clothes when you work from home. But me? I’d rather sit at my desk blogging away in leggings, a tank top and a sweatshirt. Can you blame me?
As someone with a “non-traditional” work schedule, I’ve been struggling to fit in my own workout lately. Sure, I sweat a lot [a lot alot!] while teaching, but it’s still not the same as working out on my own. For starters I’m often times only demo-ing on one side or I’m only showing a few reps of every move. I also look at my workout as my “me” time. For that hour I get to turn off my brain and tune into my body.
One thing that has really helped me squeeze in my own workouts is already being dressed for the occasion thanks to cute outfits that transition easily from the studio to the street. I’d be wearing a pair of cute sneakers, leggings and a sweatshirt to brunch anyway, might as well also workout in the outfit too!
I’ve also been opting for lower impact workouts where I don’t get as sweaty (obviously I love Bar Method and Uplift as lower impact, less sweaty classes). That way I can squeeze in the workout and head to a meeting or meal with friends afterwards without feeling totally gross.
Outfit details
SWEATSHIRT // Coeeze Sweatshirt in Black // I’ve been no joke LIVING in this sweat shirt. It’s my new staple to wear on my way to teach or workout.
TANK TOP // Essential Linear Loose Tank in White // I’ve been gravitating towards looser workout tanks lately. This is one perfect for just about any workout and comes in a bunch of colors.
SHOES // Superstar Slip-On Shoes [similar] // I’ve had these shoes for awhile now and they are my favorite athleisure sneaker. I love love love wearing them with jeans or cute black leggings.

Thank you adidas for sponsoring this post. As always all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting Kayla in the City and for making this blog possible!

I hope that you didn’t do this shoot recently…it has been WAY too cold in NYC for just a tank top brrrr
But yeah I love adidas – they are definitely my go to (and Target of course)
