Happy Friday 🙂 Whatchu got on deck this weekend?
It’s gonna be a bit of a whirlwind Satuday for me. I’m teaching my usual yoga class in the morning. Then I’m practice teaching as part of a pop-up shop for Bar Method. Then I’m running off to a staff meeting with Y7. And finally at night I’m seeing Merrily We Roll along with my parents — one of my teachers from college is in the cast! I will definitely be ready to sleep in on Sunday, that’s for sure.
Here’s what I’ve been loving this week:
a coffee date with fellow wellness bosses Leslie + Michelle
Sometimes it’s the super simple things that bring you the most joy. That for me this week was a coffee date with my friends Leslie and Michelle. Both are incredible health coaches running their own businesses and doing their own thangs.
We spoke a lot about how important it is for us to leave our apartments and connect with our colleagues in this industry. It’s also comforting for me to talk with others that are carving out their own career path. This shit is SCARY but it really is comforting to know others are making it happen.
I spoke about this at the beginning of the year but I’ve been really shitty when it comes to socializing lately. This introvert craves lots of alone time to counterbalance being very “on” as a yoga teacher.
This coffee date was a good reminder of why it’s important to step away from my desk and reconnect with my friends. Even though I am an introvert, I left the meeting feeling energized and refreshed. And I don’t think that’s just the coconut milk latte I sipped while we chatted.
Also: the everything paleo bagel from Hu Kitchen might be my new favorite thing ever. I’m not paleo but this bagel seriously rocks. And will be in my belly again tomorrow FOR SURE.

GlossLab manicure membership
Have you heard of GlossLab? They offer a membership for unlimited gel manicures + pedicures for only $89 a month. After seeing another blogger post about getting a manicure as part of this membership I decided to check out the situation myself.
I got a gel manicure yesterday and promptly signed up for the membership after. I get gel manis and regular pedicures pretty frequently. Might as well save some money in the process.
If you’re expecting a super luxurious nail experience GlossLab is not that. It’s super clean but the bare necessities for getting the job done. I was in and out in 45 minutes flat for a gel manicure. Everything is water free, even the pedicures, to keep things quick and super hygienic.
I personally kind of loved this barebones approach to getting a my nails did. I love when my nails look perfectly polished but I don’t always love sitting at the nail salon for 60+ minutes for a gel manicure. Will report back on how long my gel mani lasts. And how much use I get out of this membership.

Matzoh ball soup from Mint Kitchen
Mint Kitchen is a new fast casual Israeli restaurant that opened up last week near me in the village. I’ve been waiting for them to finally open and holy moly it was worth the wait.
So far I’ve only tried the matzoh ball soup. If you know me you know matzoh ball soup is my all time favorite food ever. No joke I love it more than sushi even. The soup at Mint Kitchen is a fun modern take on my beloved matzoh ball soup and it comes with amazing za’atar pita. Heavenly.
I’m looking forward to slowly working my way through their whole menu. Welcome to the neighborhood, Mint Kitchen 😍

Valentine’s Day celebration at Union Square Cafe
Jeremy and I weren’t able to celebrate actual Valentine’s Day together so we decided to do a fancy dinner on Saturday night. As always Union Square Cafe was SO good. We shared the winter squash tortelli to start. For my meal I got the grilled snapper and Jeremy got the steak. And then we shared the s’mores pavlova for dessert. Ugh I will be dreaming of that tortelli.
My meal wasn’t dairy-free. To be honest I got lazy and didn’t feel like asking a million questions since we were heading home afterwards if my stomach started bothering me. I do know USC is great about accommodating allergies if that’s a bigger concern for you.

Listening to: Avril Lavigne’s new song Dumb Blonde. Ugh Avril, why your music gotta be so damn catchy?
Reading: When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger. I haven’t read The Devil Wears Prada but I am loving this follow up book to the beloved novel. Will have to go back and read that next.

Best coffee date ever. Need more of it 🙂
Kayla says
YES. We need to make this a more regular thing

Is glosslab really more of a polish change than a true spa treatment? Like do they do the callus stuff on your feet and what not?
Kayla says
It’s a “dry” pedicure but they still did a considerable amount of scrubbing on my dry feet when I went Friday.
