Happy April 🙂 The gorgeous weather over the weekend here in NYC got me seriously craving spring. Warm weather I’m ready for ya!
Here’s what I’m focusing on this month:
✨April Intentions ✨
Celebrate the wins
Lately I’ve been getting SO caught up in all the things in my life that I want to “fix” and optimize. I’m forgetting to celebrate the wins, both big and small. This month I want to remember to revel in those wins: a class that went well. Teaching a new move in a Bar Method class. Finalizing an exciting partnership. I’m giving myself permission to pause and celebrate these wins.
Give myself credit.
Jeremy constantly reminds me that I don’t give myself enough credit. I complain about how I’m tired and don’t have a right to be tired because I didn’t work a traditional 40 hour week. Kayla, you’re allowed to feel tired. Especially considering the fact that you wake up before 6AM most days of the week for work. This month I want to focus on giving myself credit and not feeling so damn guilty about whatever it is I’m feeling at the moment.
Experiment with block scheduling
A lot of my friends rave about how awesome time blocking is. It kind of overwhelms me, but I’ve been told it’s supposed to help me work smarter rather than harder. I want to play around with time blocking in a way that works for me and my schedule.
Lead with gratitude (and not fear)
Kayla, remember to be grateful for what you do. Once upon a time I dreamed of teaching even one fitness class a week. Now I teach many. Rather than leaning into fear (OMG, am I making enough money?!?!? How long can I sustain this schedule!?!?) remember how much you also love what you do.
Recommit to my own yoga practice
I’m really embarrassed to admit that I can’t remember the last time I took a yoga class. Sometime before I went to LA? Lately I’ve been hyper focused on Bar Method training and also getting the most out of my Bar Method membership I’m still paying for…
As a yoga teacher I think it’s so important to practice what I preach. I also think it’s important to stay fresh as an instructor and one of the ways to do so is by taking other people’s classes. So this month I’m making a pact with myself: hit the mat and let’s do some yoga. I know I’m always SO happy when I do.
