Happy Friday!!! Anyone got any fun plans this weekend? After I’m done teaching Saturday afternoon I’m looking forward to a chill weekend with Jeremy. We both definitely need some downtime.
Here’s what I’ve been loving + my favorite things from this week:
I’m officially a certified Bar Method instructor!
My favorite things from this week and all of 2019 so far? I can officially say I’m a certified Bar Method instructor. AHHH!!!
If you’ve been following along you know that becoming a Bar Method instructor is no joke. I started training back in October working to memorize the basic class script, attended the required 4-day training with a national trainer in December, and since then I’ve been teaching 3-5 practice classes every week in Hoboken and Darien, Connecticut.
I’m not gonna lie, to some extent it feels pretty anticlimactic because the studio I’ll eventually be teaching at isn’t open 😂 Until the Noho studio opens up later this spring I’ll still be teaching community classes in Hoboken and heading to Connecticut on Friday’s. So I’m still schlepping around the tri-state area.
Even still, holy moly it took A LOT of hard work to get certified. I’ve done a number of fitness certifications and trainings (I’m a NASM certified personal trainer, AFAA certified group fitness instructor, completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and have done additional trainings in zumba, spin, kettlebells and TRX.) This experience, though, has by far been the most challenging but also comprehensive. By the time I’m actually teaching at the Noho studio I have a feeling I will feel SO confident in my skills as an instructor thanks to all this practice. Whereas when I taught my first yoga class or worked out with my first personal training client I was freaking out on the inside.
This morning we celebrated the good news in one of my classes in Darien. Stay tuned for updates on the Noho studio opening here in NYC.

a facial at Heyday
You guys, this was only my third facial EVER. For Chanukah I asked for a gift certificate for a 30-minute facial at Heyday. Due to a mix-up I ended up getting a 50-minute facial (oops!) but I’m SO happy I did because holy moly did my therapist go to TOWN on my face. No pore was left on touched. I’ve heard that after other facials you’ll leave super blotchy and red. The great thing about Heyday is they want to make facials more accessible so you’ll leave feeling okay showing your face in public. Promise. Your face will also feel hella smooth afterwards. I didn’t realize just how much dead skin I had that needed to be sloughed off.
I’m considering signing up for a facial membership where you get alternating 30 and 50 minute facials each month. We shall see if financially I can swing it.

the guacamole greens with tofu at sweetgreen
On Monday nights I usually get dinner at sweetgreen in between teaching class in Soho and Tribeca. I’ve always been a fan of their Guacamole Green salad and just sub out cabbage for onions because I loathe onions. Lately though I’ve also been swapping chicken for tofu because their tofu is SO tasty. Turns out it also makes the salad a bit cheaper. Winner winner, tofu dinner.

WTHN Herbal Blends
I’m not crazy about taking elaborate supplement concoctions but I’ve been taking the Fully Charged energy boosting herbal blend from WTHN on days I wake up super early to teach. Do they actually work? I don’t know, I’m pretty susceptible to the placebo effect… but I figure there’s no negative to taking them if they help even a little bit.
full disclosure: I did receive a package from WTHN for free but was not asked to post about them on the blog or instagram.

Celebrating at my friend Jenna’s Bridal Shower
Over the weekend I went to my friend Jenna’s Bridal Shower in Westchester. She’s been one of my closest friends since we were little and our brothers met at day camp. We went to school together, grew up in the same town, and eventually went to sleepaway camp together. I had so much fun celebrating the beautiful bride and getting to see some of my camp friends. If you went to sleepaway camp you know that camp friends are the most magical kind of friends.

Around the Web:
Have you tried Gary Vee’s $1.80 method for instagram growth?
Which spring trend are you the most excited about? I’m a fan of the graphic tee + skirt trend. And obviously all things sneakers
Everything you ever wanted to know (and didn’t want to know) about extractions. (<— this was super helpful to read before getting my facial yesterday! I knew what to expect)

And you? What are you loving this week?

omgomg they’re opening up a heyday near me and they were doing free 20 minute facials today so i got one!! i used to get them almost once a month back in the day but figured i couldn’t justify the cost anymore…honestly i think i might go back to doing it, though! it’s an investment and my skin seriously needs some TLC!

Congrats on completing the training!

Congratulations on completing your training and getting certified! That is so exciting and such a huge feat, regardless of your centre being ‘officially open’ or not! That is something to be celebrated, so I hope you did just that. I also love guacamole greens salad! I go to a place that includes corn chips and a lil salsa and it’s like a party in my mouth. So good!

thank you 💗 And aren’t corn chips the best addition in any salad? So freaking good.
